A big Congratulations to Ron and Deb Cizek from Bennington, NE on winning the prestigious 50th Annual Ridler award for their 1940 Ford Coupe "Checkered Past" at the 61st Detroit Autorama.
Ron Cizek's cherry-red 1940 Ford was built by Andy Leach and the crew at Cal Automotive Creations in Omaha, Nebraska, features a paint job by Charley Hutton, one-off billet aluminum wheels that were styled to resemble vintage racing designs, and a gold-finished blown flathead V-8 engine.
The car has been cut, chopped and reshaped, and features a custom-made hood that was shortened by 4 inches and contoured to fit the one-off grille, which resembles the grille of the 1940 Deluxe.
Other outstanding highlights include a saddle leather and suede interior with dimple died panels, custom gauges, and many modern amenities.
Congratulations to all those who had a part in the build of this coupe, but we want to give a special shout out to Charley Hutton, an Idaho guy, who painted this car with the mixed custom color Checkered Past Red with gold accents.
