Portland Swap Meet
Portland, Oregon

April 9-11, 2010
photos by Jack Lawford

The real sign of Spring and the start of the show season in the Northwest is the Portland Swap Meet in April.   For someone who spent years going to the monthly swap meets in Pomona, California,  Jack had his doubts before his first Portland meet many years ago .... that Pomona could be beat ....  but guess what ....  Portland is Pomona on steroids ... With over 6000 spaces at the Expo Center and the addition of hundreds more just 1 mile away at Portland International Raceway ... there is little doubt that this is Car Guys Heaven.
About 80% or so of the booths are filled with used parts .... boxes and boxes of them !  Of course April in Portland almost always means at least one day of rain, but that doesn’t deter the masses from coming.  This year there was just a little rain on Friday and some threats on Saturday but all in all great weather prevailed.
Portland is a chance to find those allusive parts you need for your ongoing projects,  and a chance to meet up with friends from around the area.  This year Jack did both ...  he found some parts he needs to finish up the  64 Falcon Sprint Convertible, and spent some time visiting with friends as well.  Check out the pictures and see what you missed at Portland this year.

IT’s always nice to see the folks from Superior Glassworks.  Brad and Donna are great people and we just love their new Sports Wagon.

IT was hard to get a good shot of the car as there were usually crowds of people around it.. you’ll see that in later shots.   You can see this awesome car at the Portland Roadster Show this weekend if you missed the swap meet.

Now this is treasure....  hope there’s enough left of these parts when she gets them home !
