Friends of Rick Wareham

A benefit evening is being held Feb. 21 to raise money for Wareham at the Canad Inn at 826 Regent Ave. in Winnipeg.

snow and will recover in time. His only source of income is Big Rick's Hot Rod Diner on Henderson Hwy in Winnipeg. Friends are currently running the restaurant while Rick is physically recovering. Location is 379 Henderson Hwy (Henderson at Larsen Ave) & hours are Mon-Fri 8am – 3pm, & Sat. 9am – 3pm, Sundays 9am-2pm. Last weekend many car folks were there, just stopping in to show support or volunteering in the restaurant.

There was no house insurance on the home. In lieu of flowers, an account has been set up to help Rick Wareham. Any donations may be made at Big Rick’s Hot Rod Diner, 379 Henderson Hwy. Winnipeg, MB R2K 2H2, or at any branch of the Bank of Montreal using Account# 05367001 8547-306.

Rick has always been the rodder’s friend; occasionally storing cars for free, giving low prices on his parts for sale and doing paint and bodywork, sometimes not taking anything from someone whose finances were dire. Rick and his diner have been a wealth of connections and ideas for all things automotive. Someone at the diner always knows what is for sale or where that elusive part or ride might be. Rick has always been a firm believer in supporting various car shows and events around town. He always had a donation ready for the Rondex Rodarama Car Show and for the Toy Run in the fall. We urge you to think of his generosity at this time and consider a donation for Rick.

. Canad Inn Transcona and Cruisin’ the Peg is proud to support Rick’s friends in their efforts for this worthy cause. CTP is helping the many friends who are organizing this event. We hope that you will be able to encourage your friends and family to come out for a fun evening that will be such a financial and moral boost for Rick.

Starting at 6:30 PM on Saturday, February 21, we will host a Bud, Spud n` Steak dinner at MyBar in the Canad Inn, 826 Regent Ave. W. There will be prizes, silent auction, giveaways, a memorabilia display along with car related “stuff” on our giant screens. The live band Boogie Knights will be playing music for us.

The tickets cost $20.00. From the tickets sales we will cover the cost of the dinners. Then the balance will be used to build a $250 cash prize for one lucky ticket holder and a donation for Rick. Additionally, all proceeds from a 50/50 draw and a silent auction will go directly to Rick. We are looking for giveaway items to throw out to the crowd during the evening. Some items that are a “hit” with Cruisin’ the Peg folks are hats, t-shirts, sweatshirts, key-chains and specialty promo items. Any donation for the Silent Auction is never too small and we invite everyone to help us raise funds for Rick for the evening.
