The 16th annual J. P. Stevens Car Show kicked off with a rendition of the Star- Spangled Banner by the High School Band, and perfectly clear skies.
The participation Turnout, unfortunately, was down by at least 1/3 of the previous
years and the consensus among those present were that the existence of 3 known Shows in or around the area, siphoned off many of the previous year’s attendees, plus the effect of a main artery leading to the Show being blocked off from Metuchen through Edison, for a 5K Run, from around 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M.
Despite the somewhat diminished participant turnout, there was still sizable
number of vehicles present, plenty of good food available, a few Vendors to peruse, and clean indoor restroom facilities for all to use. The oldest vehicle present, was a 1917 Jeffries, with the rest ranging in age from the 1930’s, up into the nearly the present. DJ ‘Jukebox Jimmy’ provided most of the musical entertainment, presided over the games, and handled the end of Show announcements masterfully. A great Show, if you haven’t been to this one yet, mark your Calendars for June 5, 2016 for next year’s Show.
