’37 Studebaker J5 Coupe Express Pickup – Jeff Rice ~ Ocala, FL. Here’s my truck. It really doesn’t have a name (yet). I sometimes call it my “Yellow POS”. My wife calls it her “Mistress”. Some of my friends call it “The Bug Truck”. Anyways it’s a 1937 Studebaker J5 Coupe Express Pickup truck. This was the first year Studebaker manufactured a light duty pickup. They basically took a Dictator model passenger car frame, running gear, nose and cowl and added a cab back and pickup box. Studebaker was a forward thinking company, design wise. This truck was one of about 3,000 pickups built by Studebaker in 1937 in South Bend, IN and spent it’s working life up in Maine. To much done to list all here.
