One down 10 to go! The first show of the 2016 Carlisle Events schedule is in the books and once more, it was a resounding success. Auto Mania, a three day swap meet at the Allentown Fairgrounds, is Pennsylvania’s LARGEST indoor and heated swap meet and it proved once more that the collector car hobby is strong. With hundreds of vendors packing Ag Hall and thousands of guests flocking through the gates daily, Auto Mania observed yet another sold out status and offered attendees the chance to beat the winter blues with row upon row of all things automotive.
Gates opened at noon on day one, Friday the 15th and from there, it was a non-stop flood of guests through the doors of the complex. Right away, a sign pitching Chevelle parts and a vendor with an old Chevy bumper greeted guests. Straight 50 yards and food vendors were available, plus others selling movie posters and engine parts, while a right turn took guests past old school hubcaps, chrome trim, hood ornaments, tires, wheels and collectible toys. In fact, it didn’t matter if guests went left, right, up or down; at every turn there was something for them.
Anyone that came to Auto Mania for more than one day could easily see that for as packed as Friday’s 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. offering was, that Saturday’s 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. time frame was even more crowded. With guests onsite from New York, Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and other neighboring states, the energy was palpable. Not only was the main floor footprint hopping, the adjacent hall with body kits, classic cars for sale, shirts, banners and other automotive themed pieces and parts.
Sunday helped wrap the weekend and although it was an active show day, it ultimately was the day for vendors to pack up and load out. Guests that came had one final shot at deals within the swap meet and one last chance to connect with old friends before saying goodbye until “the next time.”
Speaking of the next time, Carlisle Events’ next offering comes in one month as staff travel to Lakeland, Florida for Winter Florida AutoFest. That event runs February 25-28 and hosts not only a swap meet and car corral, but a two-day collector car auction too. There’s also a pair of car shows, unique displays, Air & Coach Concours and special guest Tom Wopat from The Dukes of Hazzard. The auction boasts Carlisle’s exciting FREE UNLESS SOLD guarantee as well as other great conveniences related to being part of a Carlisle Auction. A complete rundown of this event and others that follow it are available online via the Carlisle Events’ web page; www.CarlisleEvents.com.
