For those of you who haven’t yet visited the America on Wheels museum in Allentown Pa, I highly recommend you do so.

The Museum is location on North Front St, along the Lehigh River, in what was once an industrial area of the city, and it has a nicely laid out display of automotive history, from the earliest 19th century examples, right up into modern times, with explanatory placards by each vehicle on display. Not only are cars of many decades on display, but with Allentown Pa being the world headquarter of the Mack Truck company, there are of course some very nice examples of the Mack Truck company’s production on display, from the early 1900’s, up into the 1970’s, along with a simulator one can sit in, so you can experience what it feels and looks like drive one their Trucks from the Cab of one, plus a continuous movie playing nearby, chronicling the history of the fabled Truck builder. The Museum has one section on the 2nd floor where the display rotates every 6 months, so if you happen to stop back for another visit, you can see something new, and they have a Library available for visitors to peruse, containing a variety of historical books, manuals, and other memorabilia.

The entry fee to see all the displays, is a nominal $8.00/Adult, the fee for Students (6-16) is $4.00, Seniors (62+) $6.00, and children under 5 are free. You can get more information on the Museum at their Website at http://www.americaonwheels.org.
