Arizona Car Club Wins 20th Anniversary Eagle One Golden Rule Award

Local Car Club finds Serving the Community Rewarding

The Lake Havasu Chapter of the Over the Hill Gang Car Club is no stranger to charitable endeavors, which made winning the Eagle One 20th Anniversary Golden Rule Award, and accompanying $3000 check for charity, even sweeter.

“I’d submitted our application eight months ago and hadn’t heard anything,” says former club President Barry Serlis, “so when some guy I didn’t know called and said I’d won $3000, I thought he was kidding.”

Eagle One PR rep Alex Litrov wasn’t kidding, and the club knew exactly where they wanted the money to go.

Women with Willpower is a local non-profit,” explains Serlis. “Many of our club wives are members.  The organization helps out Lake Havasu women who are burdened by unexpected financial needs that can’t be met elsewhere, like rent or utilities.”

Automotive appearance brand Eagle One has been using the Golden Rule award to recognize and reward non-profit car clubs for conducting an outstanding community service program. This year, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the award, Eagle One decided to hold a random drawing of the award applicants so that clubs who had fewer members or resources would also have a chance to win the award and the charitable donation.  This paid off for the Lake Havasu OTHG.

“We’ve held a number of charitable events,” says Serlis. “A few years ago, we held a car show at the local high school to raise money for a modern parts washer for the Auto shop. They had an old one that required caustic chemicals, and this one is electric and better for the students and the environment.”

The non-profit Car Club is committed to assisting the local community, as evidenced by the involvement with Women with Willpower, and the Eagle One award offered a great way to aid in their mission.  In addition to the donation, the club will receive a custom-designed award plaque and a generous supply of Eagle One appearance products and Valvoline motor oil for fund-raising events.

“Eagle One is very proud of its two decades of being the only organization to recognize and reward car clubs for outstanding community and charitable activities which demonstrates that there is more to car clubs than just cars,” said Robert McCarter of Eagle One marketing.
