Juliano’s original ’40 Column has evolved into this second-generation unit with a re-designed shift lever mechanism and its internal parts more closely modeled after an original ’40 column and shifter assembly. The new-gen ‘40 column features a spring-loaded shift mechanism with a fulcrum point that provides a mechanical advantage as you move the gear selector up and down, giving the shifter the same feel as one on a late model car. The new columns are also made with steel components that are chrome plated or can be painted—unlike polished aluminum, which requires maintenance to remain nice looking. Juliano’s also offers a beautiful selection of vintage reproduction steering wheels, like the Crestliner wheel used in the picture.
