I found these in an old shoe box while we were unpacking. I thought they were still at Mom and Dad's house and had been lost in a tornado. I thought Jack (Hotrod Hotline) might get a kick out of them and who knows... maybe somebody will see them and know more about some of the cars or people.
I believe these would have been taken at Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, Kentucky in 1973. Keep in mind I took these at the ripe old age of 12. I don't really remember an exact date, but do remember there were two funny cars doing exhibition runs on that particular Sunday. One was the American Xpress Maverick, the other is a Hemi Challenger. Although you can clearly see the old wooden push pad on the Chevrolet truck, check out the rollers in the first picture that were used to start the Nitro cars. This was a huge jump in technology, at that time, from the good-old-days of push starting these cars. These were removed several years ago. I wish there were more than nine pictures but I hope you enjoy them anyway.
So now we take you back to the good old days of: SUNDAY......SUNDAY.....SUNDAY!!!!!!!!!
