Debbie’s 1970 AMX - As far as the car goes, I have owned it for about 7 years..... We got it from the 2nd owner who planned to restore it, but never did....
We got it in Stuart Florida......
We had the car flat bedded, and tore it down all the way... Each part was either restored or replaced with original parts.... A/C was added...... The car has a 390 engine which is what was in it originally... The restoration was a labor of love.... My hands, my sons hands, And my husbands hands all played a part.... The car was painted back to its original color which is called bittersweet orange. Black leather interior... The car turns heads whenever I take it out
I have won many local car shows.... Where I work <Miccosukee Resort & Casino>... They have a show every year... This past year I won best in my class.....
How I originally got involved with getting an AMX is kind of funny..... Many years ago <like star wars..... In a galaxy far away>... I had a white AMX... I raced this car on the street.... Well, the car and me <being I was, and still am a female> got pretty well known. I was THE car to beat in Miami... I raced, and beat what was to become my future husband.... After we got married, we got rid of the car..... We replaced it with the current car...... My sons believe that they would not be here today if it weren’t for my car racing.....
My son, Dustin was given a 70 AMX for his graduation gift 7 years ago..... His is a custom teal blue and black "X" a 401 was put under the hood..... We have taken them to a few shows, where we are quite the conversation piece.... Mom and Son AMX's.... Fortunately most of the time we fall in different classes with mine being judged under "original", and his being classified under custom... But, sometimes we are competitors....
