It's always nice when you get to observe talent at the beginning of it's course…. Seeing a young person who is excited about his future and just brimming with ideas and talent, does your heart good!
Doug Batchelor almost had to be born a talented artist. Both his mother and his father are talented artists. Mom is a wonder with the artists paintbrush on canvas and Dad has made a career of building Custom Cars and Street Rods. If You've been to any shows in the NorthWest you have seen cars built by Bill Batchelor of "Batch's Rods".. Doug has been around cars his entire life so it was natural that he would try his artists brush on a fender as soon as the chance presented itself.
Doug already has a market for his talent. His small shop , next to his Dad's Rod Shop, is a mix of artist studio and body shop. where computers and artists brushes lay next to masking tape and thinner…..and everywhere there are samples of his work….. his love. A picture here, a scratch on a notepad there, T-shirts on the wall and sketches of "dream cars" everywhere.
We have only a small sample of Dougs' work to show you here but he's off to a great start…… At the Boise Roadster Show He did his Dad Proud by getting a "First Place" for Dad's Cool Orange Harley.
This is one Of Dougs First Flame Jobs. |
The Local "Titan" Dealership called on Doug to customize some of their bikes. |
|
It must have been a good feeling for a young man to see such an impressive line-up of his work at the Boise Roadster Show this year!
Doug was just finishing up this Harley when we visited with him…
