Located just outside of Boyne City, Michigan, is every gearheads dream come true, Great Lakes Motor Works. | ||
A full service automotive wonderland of restored and streetrodded vehicles. It also serves as the headquarters for Classic Instruments. The brainchild of Mike Stowe, Great Lakes Motor Works is a must see if you are in Boyne City. Mike has a special program which enables college and high school students to work at the facility to see and experience what it really takes to achieve success in the real world. If you are lucky enough to stop in you will be ushered around the facility by one of those students. Anyone can just stop in and take the tour. It is well worth your time. |

What you will see is a collection of some very rare cars, engine displays and restoration projects. Besides the auto display areas, there is a machine and fabrication section, an area with a lift, paint booth and complete paint formula table, and the assembly area. The assembly area has racks of shelving to catalog parts for the current projects. As mentioned before Classic Instruments is located in the facility. The office area, inventory and production areas are well organized and very clean. You can't help but be impressed with the total operation known as Great Lakes Motor Works. |
