A Cruise Night at the John Force Racestation
Yorba Linda, CA
04-26-08

Story and Photographs By Roger Rohrdanz

The first John Force Cruise Night for 2008 was held on Saturday, April 26 at the John Force Racestation.  From here on out through October they will be on the last Saturday of each month. This Saturday, Mother Nature decided to surprise us with some hot weather, but the show is in the evening (4pm to 7pm) so the temperatures were very pleasant. There is something appealing about an evening show. The hectic part of the day is over, the temperatures are cooled down, it’s time to relax.  The Host Club, Orange County Vettes did a good job parking the 130 or so pre-’78 Hot Rods. The Raffle prizes where given away and the Award winners were announced. It’s time to leave and look forward to the last Saturday of next month.

Thanks for the Show!

The first John Force Cruise Night for 2008 was held at the John Force Racestation.   This very personable individual is Craig Hoetzel, he is the “go to guy” at the Racestation.

During the show the very interesting Racestation is open. Here are helmets and pictures of 3 of John’s daughters. Ashley just won her first National event in her Funny Car! Which is also the first National event Funny Car win by a female!   This race version of a ’58 Corvette belongs to Noel & Diana Park from Rancho Palos Verdes, CA.

This highly modified creation started as a ’31 Ford Tudor. It is now a small block Ford powered roadster owned by Matt Tachdjian of Orange, CA.   The emcee for tonight’s event was Randy Haapala from Lake Elsinore, CA. and this is his sharp ’05 Dodge Magnum

A bright yellow ’57 Chevy with a post and black interior belongs to Kevin Aikins   Local, Ron Smith owns this very nice Chevy powered ’56 Ford F-100 pickup.

Ready to race, roll cage, 540 cu in Merlin stuffed in a ’69 Chevy Nova. Owned by Mark Lamorite from Anaheim, CA.   Richard Chun drove his nicely restored ’69 Chevy Camaro from Trabuco Canyon, CA.

Jeff Styles and his family drove the primered “wagon” from Lake Forest, CA. tonight, a ’56 Chevy with white walls and a nice little “flame job”.   A nicely restored turquoise and white, 324 cu in Olds powered, ’55 Olds Holiday 98. The proud owner is Ken Grominshi from Yorba Linda, CA.

Gary Carlson brought his “matching numbered” ’69 Plymouth GTX with 440 power.   Bill Crerwinski drove from Ventura, CA. (3½ hrs one way!) in his 3-71 blown, V6 Buick powered ’33 Model “Y” English Ford.
