Ocean City, MD

Day three at Cruisin Ocean City was the polar opposite of day two, with an emphasis on the word polar, as in Polar Express. While Friday was extremely hot and humid, Saturday was downright cold. The “Inlet Car Show,” which was right by where the Ocean and the Bay, met with a relentless onshore wind all day, helping to make things feel even colder, not too mention kicking up a continual dust/sand storm.
The manufacturer’s Midway had the usual suspects present: Mother’s Car Care Products, Meguiars, Grundy Worldwide Antique Car Insurance, Ride Tech, MSD and one newcomer, Cold Case Radiators. The exodus from the “Inlet Car Show” was, as it always is, a slow crawl to Atlantic Ave, but unlike previous years, once past the first Traffic Light by the amusement rides, it was also a fairly easy ride. There were, as has been the case in years past, groups of spectators egging vehicle owners on to do burnouts which, if one weren’t extremely careful, could result in a HUGE fine from the local constabulary.
By nightfall the number of older vehicles cruising had diminished, but there were still a decent variety of vehicles to photograph, with the biggest action being on the Coastal Highway. While I missed seeing it, the highlight of the evening was a three block long Pro-Stock burnout, which garnered the vehicle owner of said ProStock accolades galore, and enough tickets from the Ocean City Police to pay for their evening’s overtime.
