Duel in the Desert

With only the Southeastern Nationals, Autumn Get- Together, and the Southwest Nationals remaining in the 2015 event schedule, the stakes are high this season and only one AutoCross Champ will walk away with the title Goodguys Accel AutoCrosser of the Year, as well as being awarded over $20,000 in cash and prizes.  The qualifying races this year include the events produced by Goodguys, as well as several of the events produced by SCCA, USCA, and ASP.

This year’s Duel, presented by BF Goodrich Tires, Tremec, Spectre Performance, and Turnology sets the stage for the nation’s premier AutoCross racers to battle in a 32 car single elimination tournament that will determine the champion.  A cash purse and prizes are on the line, and defending 2014 champion Brian Hobaugh will be returning as well as 2013 winner Danny Popp, along with SCCA Solo Champion Mary Pozzi, Bret Voelkel and the Ridetech team, Matthew Brown, Kyle Tucker, Mike Maier, Tyler Powell, Al Unser, Jr.m Robby Unser, and dozens of other competitors.

Qualifying and race in laps as well as standard AutoCross racing classes will be run on Friday and Saturday morning, with the Duel in the Desert taking center stage Saturday afternoon.  More AutoCross racing action will take place on Sunday, as well.

In addition to the Duel in the Desert, the 18th Southwest Nationals will showcase over 3,000 hot rods, customs, classics, muscle cars, and trucks through 1972, plus exhibits, huge swap meets, cars for sale, Top 12 Vehicles display presented by Meguiar’s, and much more.
