Friday and Saturday I parked "Hot Stuff" in the show and shine area and spent the day alternating between the race grand stands, the pits, and walking around checking out cars and taking pictures. In the process I met a number of folks that I have been talking to on the web for several years now. Denise and her Big Olds for one.
Friday evening there was a "reception" at the host hotel. The reception being a 500 car cruise in. Saturday evening just after dark the had the "cackelfest, an ear deafing event in which a bunch of old time sling shot dragsters fire up at the same time. Ya gotta see it for yourself.
There was more drag racing on Sunday and an awards ceremony. But I cut out early. "Hot stuff " was not in contention for anything and I was pretty used up. Came home the way I went. Another nice drive. This one incident free.

How does this NHRA event stack up next to a NSRA or Goodguys regional event? Just as good and, for those with an interest in drag racing, a bit better. The event did not attract the number and variety of vendors and the swap meet was rather small. But 2,000 show and shine rods and 400 racers make up for that. I really liked the set up. The only down side was the long lines to get in and out of the facility, something they are working on. Am I going again. You bet. I've already started working on a couple of my friends with RVs. Camping out at the park is the way to go.
