Let me ask you. If you could save just one person’s life, wouldn’t that be special? What if you could help save the lives of 1000+ men in just 12 days!! That accomplishment alone says this event is miraculous!!
At 4:00am, the gates opened for the 12th Annual Cruisin’ For A Cure. the largest single day charity car cruise and show in the country. At 7:30am, the “Drive Against Prostate Cancer Van” opened for FREE PSA cancer screenings. This year alone 1,200+ men were tested for Prostate Cancer! 3,000+ hot rods cruised thru the “Cure”. From its inception, 170,000 spectators have contributed to its success. Year after year hundreds of vendors have contributed and provided information on their latest products; Meguiars, AAA, Hot Wheels, FIRESTONE, Magnuson, Orange Coast Dodge and Jeep, Connell Chevrolet, Guaranty Chevrolet, Budnik, Currie, Mickey Thompson Tires, Lucas Oil, Prolong, Galpin Ford, and Russo-Steele.
In 12 years, this event has raised over $1,200,000 for The Cure!! Again this year, The City of Hope is the beneficiary. The success of this event has spawned other similar shows in New York, Texas, Utah, Oklahoma, Las Vegas and Ontario, Canada.
During the day, Linda Vaughn and George Barris circulated thru the event. The Ravelers, The Mai Tai's surf band, The Anonymous and the Cowboys provided live entertainment all day. At Noon, the talented Casey Simpson gave a live concert. Awards were given to 60 deserving cars. Judy Asbury won the giveaway golf cart. The “For Sale” area included 65 cars. It will be back next year. Dave McClelland gave the invocation and he provided informative announcements all day. Dave IS the Master of Ceremonies!
Thanks to all of you who support this event. See you all next year, on September 22, 2012.
Thanks for the Show!
