We all want our classic to tell a unique story, and this 1959 Chevrolet Apache 3100 pickup is one of the coolest out there. It was actually sold new in Mexico, and there's the dealer invoice and a nice paperwork file to prove it. And today there's a cool attitude on this one where it mixes an honest truck feeling while also giving you some custom classic elements.

This truck is something special even without its unique history. The Apache line of Task Force trucks was only around for a few years, but they were unmistakably Chevys. It had the quad headlight design that we saw on the late '50s sedans. In fact, the wide grille and board-shouldered look remind us of the 1958 Impala - a car coveted today for being a single-year model. And while this one takes its classic American roots to heart with plenty of brightwork in the chrome bumpers, upgraded bed step sides, and even a custom diamond plate panel bridging the rear bumper and body. And while this may have first spent its life in Mexico, it has some terrific Americana touches like the frenched tail lights, raised white letter tires, and bright alloys with a sporty 15/16-inch front/rear stance. As distinct as this looks, it also can still be quite useful. The bed is an upgraded steel floor unit, and it has liner paint to match the rest of the body's attractive steely gray metallic paint.

The interior upgrades your comfort without taking away from the vintage style. There's a nice tan on the door panels, headliner, sun visors, and carpeting that looks great against the gray/blue exterior paint that returns on the dash. And we especially like the look of the tan bench seat. It's far plusher than what Chevy gave these trucks in the 1950s, and the bow ties stitched into the seatbacks have a premium sense of style. The large three-spoke steering wheel, long shifter handle, and fan-style speedometer are pure classic Chevy cool. But the added temp gauge and wiper switch give you a better overall cruiser feeling.

Under the hood is a 250 cubic-inch motor. It's a later update, and the polished components help announce it. But the true appeal here is a classic truck with a hardy classic inline-six. After all, the aftermarket loves these trucks, and so you can easily turn this into a more modern driver with everything from headers to disc brakes. But there's also something quite cool about a pickup that really keeps it old school. This one wants you to feel the road, and the three-speed manual transmission has the ultra-low first that gets the torque working from the start.

The sale comes complete with the original bill of sale, the dealer invoice from Parral, Mexico, and a file of assorted original docs. It all makes for a distinct truck that has a story that likely won't be matched by any other. After all, how often do you get to use the term "repatriated" when describing your classic???
