Description:
INTRODUCTION: Documented & certified! Patrick Glenn Nichols certificate of authenticity: Genuine SS 396 with authentic #s matching motor and rear end. 1 owner in California from new until 2008, registration cards included. It checks all the boxes and then some!
EXTERIOR: This Chevelle has outstanding fit and finish from the rockers to the roof! The clean southern California body is arrow straight. It was repainted Cranberry Red and polished to a glass-like finish. The black SS stripes are smooth to the touch, and the body is topped off with the highly desirable cowl induction hood featuring a functional flapper door. The stainless moldings around the windows have been replaced, and the bumpers, taillight lenses, rear window, weatherstrips, window seals, and door handles are all fresh. It's sitting proud on a set of 15-inch SS wheels with extra wide rear wheels wrapped in beefy BFGoodrich tires, giving the car an aggressive muscle car stance that matches its performance perfectly.
INTERIOR: Restored from carpet to headliner, the interior looks factory fresh throughout. The seats have been re-cushioned for a firm, comfortable feel and reupholstered. They have new headrests, seat backs, and chrome trim. The headliner and visors are new and wrinkle free, along with a new mirror and working dome light. The door panels, armrests, dash pad, instrument panel, vents, knobs, and heater control panel have all been replaced. It's nicely equipped with a full set of factory gauges, including tachometer and a working clock. A retro stereo fits neatly in the factory location and plays through two 6x9 speakers in the rear shelf. Down on the floor is fresh carpet, a center console with a Hurst and updated with the 5-speed shift pattern. It's finished with a complete set of seat belts and a deluxe wheel on a tilt column.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The original numbers matching 396 has been upgraded to produce an impressive 458 horsepower and 452 lbs of torque while still maintaining a factory correct appearance. Performance upgrades include TRW forged pistons, a Comp roller cam kit, Edelbrock rectangle port aluminum heads, matched Edelbrock intake, Sniper fuel injection, HEI ignition, and coated headers. Keeping with the stock look, the engine is painted Chevy orange and topped with correct chrome valve covers and a complete functional cowl induction system. It's also very well equipped with a restored factory air conditioning, power steering, and power brakes, making this a powerful yet comfortable car to drive. The engine compartment is highly detailed with clean brackets, pulleys, hinges, hoses, and a proper cooling system. Even the squirters are hooked up, both horns are working, it has hood insulation and an AC Delco battery topper. The metal surfaces are painted nicely, wiring is routed neatly, and overall it's a very impressive motor compartment packed with horsepower and desirable features.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: The trunk is very tidy and well finished. Under the trunk lid is painted slick, and the weatherstrip has been replaced. Inside is very clean metal with a neatly applied spatter finish, topped off with a custom cut insulated carpet mat that gives the compartment a clean, finished appearance.
UNDERSIDE: Underneath this Chevelle is exactly what serious buyers hope to find- factory original rust free floors, inner rockers, and braces! The frame and chassis have been properly prepped and finished in a clean semi gloss black. It's equipped with the desirable F41 suspension package, featuring front and rear sway bars along with boxed rear control arms. The suspension and steering systems have been completely rebuilt. The brake system has also been fully redone with front disc brakes, replaced lines, and a properly hooked up e-brake assembly. The exhaust system sounds fantastic with upgraded larger diameter pipes, a crossover, and DynoMax mufflers and correct SS tips. The fuel system has been replaced as well, including the tank. Looking up at the drivetrain, the motor is clean Chevy orange with a chrome high torque starter. This was born a factory 4-speed car and has since been upgraded with a new Legend LGT-700 5-speed manual trans paired with a Centerforce dual friction clutch. Out back is the original 12-bolt rear end with 4.11 posi gears. Overall, the underside is extremely impressive, combining rebuilt mechanics with rust free original metal!
SERVICE: We take pride in our cars and our reputation. Every vehicle goes through our service department where it is inspected, test driven, and we address the essentials before offering it for sale.
CONCLUSION: This is the kind of Chevelle that would be extremely difficult to duplicate! It's an authentic car with documented California history, loaded with desirable features including a manual shift, factory air conditioning, cowl induction, gauges, and upgraded horsepower, all while retaining its original muscle car appearance. The combination of authenticity, performance, options, and quality is something you simply do not come across often. If this is what you've been searching for, here may be your one and only opportunity.
