This 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu has an awesome custom paint theme, an upgraded A/C interior, and proper power from a ZZ4 performance V8. It's the kind of classic where they made the right additions that makes sure it creates envy everywhere it goes.

You could get a Chevelle in black, but it never came like this from the factory. After all, the level of gloss on this one is an instant announcement of a more recent investment in quality. Plus, Chevy never did the racing stripes in matte black. It has a terrific look where some may not even notice it until the sunshine rolls across the car... but then the light just looks like it gets consumed by those mean black streaks. And just for that added touch of sporty appeal, the whole package is framed by red pinstriping. While the color package is an upgrade, this coupe also knows how to respect its history. It's in the fundamentals, like the bright chrome bumpers, SS-style cowl hood, and clean lines of this hardtop's sheet metal. And the addition of American Racing Torq Thrust wheels in a modern 17/18-inch front/rear stance is the ideal way to bridge the ideas of vintage and modern on this coupe.

There's more blackout style inside. This is an update later in life, and so it remains attractive with good carpeting, a smooth dash, and nice door panels. Just like the exterior, the interior retains the right vintage style everywhere from the two wide rows of bench seats to the dome light that greets you when the door opens. But you can also tell this is a well upgraded machine. You get added comfort with an AM/FM/CD stereo with aux input and cold-blowing R134a air conditioning. And while that makes it nice for everyone, this also is specifically a better driver's coupe. You have a wood-rimmed sports steering wheel, an under-dash auxiliary gauge trio, and a large tach mounted to the steering column.

The engine bay has the clean look of a powerful car. This was upgraded with a 350 cubic-inch ZZ4 performance crate V8, and it has all the right go-fast goodies. This includes a four-barrel carburetor, an Edelbrock intake, and long tube ceramic-coated headers that add even more power while also contributing to the rumble of the dual exhaust. This is a powerful motor, and so it's nice to have a TH400 three-speed automatic transmission to give the gearbox the right mix of stout and smooth. And this was built to be a great all-around driver with power steering, power brakes, front discs, and a new set of low-profile sport tires.

This Chevelle Malibu is distinctive, mean, comfortable, sleek, and powerful. But what we especially like is that nothing in the full restoration is over-the-top so that it avoids the feeling of a pure show car that you'd be afraid to drive. Instead, it assembles the best pieces for the kind of classic that you'll enjoy enough to be known around town. So if you not only want to be seen, but also remembered, you need to call today!
