This is a real-deal limited-edition Shelby car, and it has the supercharged V8 to prove its pedigree. So while the world of performance SUVs is just heating up now, this 1999 Dodge Durango Shelby SP360 proves it's the modern classic that's going to get a ton more attention than other 4x4s that cost five times more.
The formula for this SUV is pretty simple. When you want to look sporty, you need a full body kit with ground-hugging looks, powerful driving lights, and a well-integrated dual exhaust. Add in an aggressive hood with dual scoops. Then paint it a blue borrowed from the Viper (add the iconic double white stripe for good measure too). Even those bright 17-inch five-spoke wheels were special to the package. See, it's easy to make the Durango look aggressive... you just have to spend plenty to make it look like something special. But there's a very good to make this one stand out from the crowd. It's a genuine Shelby, and it's genuinely rare. You're looking at #48 of 300. The fog lights were upgraded to more modern units or you may want to touch up the front paint, but overall, this one remains mostly stock. So it's an impressively low-batch speedy SUV that has averaged less than 1,800 miles annually.
The interior expertly blends the feeling of a sports car and the practicality of an SUV. You have racing style bucket seats up front that are finished in a stylish two-tone gray leather. They even have Carroll Shelby's signature embroidered in the back to remind you how special this one is. The dash/console even has a carbon fiber appearance package and an individually numbered plaque. And those extra gauges on the A-pillar are pure muscle car cool. But more than just performance-oriented, this is a loaded hauler. It comes with power windows, power locks, keyless entry/alarm, power seats, dual front airbags, a premium AM/FM/CD stereo w/cassette, and cold-blowing air conditioning. The second row even gets racing seats with a center console in-between. There's also rear air and a fold-down TV. Behind that is a more standard three-person bench seat that's also done in two-tone to match buckets. So you have a very speedy-looking interior that still can hold up to seven people. There's still a good amount of cargo room with all rows up in this large SUV, and you even have a trailer hitch to bring the toys with you on any adventure.
Under the hood is where this really earns its true Shelby name. The 5.9-liter fuel-injected V8 was already a potent powerplant for the top Durangos of the era, and then Shelby added a Kenne Bell twin-screw supercharger. The result was 360 horsepower, and that's how this speedy SUV earned its name. There are nice added details like Shelby lowering the suspension, and there's a nice sound from the Dynomax exhaust. And while this is a powerful machine, it never loses its practicality. That's why it's a true 4x4 with a transfer case that lets you choose between part time AWD and full-time hi and lo. Plus, there are more everyday useful features, like four-wheel power disc brakes, power steering, and a four-speed automatic transmission w/overdrive.
Complete with owner's manual, this is the supercharged SUV that showed the way to today's Jeep Trackhawk and other SRT Mopars. And this is a real Shelby with serious rarity. So it's amazing you can get it all for such an affordable price. Call today!!!
