You already knew the 1950 Ford coupe was an ideal hot rod. But when it's been built with bold flame-kissed paintwork, a retro-cool two-tone interior, and a performance flathead under the hood, then it's everything you want in a true classic custom. Best of all, it has a great driving attitude ready to go home with you today.
Everyone loves the sleek look of Ford's first post-war design. It was fairly groundbreaking when it first appeared, which is why it became the darling of the custom car crowds. This legacy is seen on nearly every inch of the exterior. The ultra-sleek body is free from clutter like the door handles. And there are even fender skirts and frenched tail lights for added uninterrupted smoothness. This allowed for the black paint to have a clean and glossy style. And, of course, those custom flames seal the deal. The red fireball with white etching is a theme carried throughout the car, including on the bullet nose and wheel/whitewall combo. And, of course, a hot rod is not complete without the right brightwork. The wraparound bumpers, wide grille, and two-piece wheel covers all come together for a nice appearance. The overall theme here is a custom that can impress with its looks but unmistakably belongs out on the road. So while you can polish it up to create garage art, this one will be the most fun if you drive it to the Woodward Dream Cruise.
The main restoration was believed to have taken place within the last decade, and the interior was given a makeover that respects the original design. At the same time, it adds the right hot rod flair, too. It starts with a return of the red and white accent theme from the exterior. There was a nice investment so that the seats, door panels, headliner, carpeting, and dash all feel fresh and stay within the two-tone theme. That cool dual-spoke steering wheel with bright trim is pure 1950s space-race cool. The whole dash stays true to the original, right down to the gauge package. And with working details everywhere, from the Magic Air heater under the dash to the dome lights at the top of the door pillars, this one shows a thoughtful level of care.
Under the hood, the bright red block and all those polished components just look like they radiate power from inside the dark engine bay. Overall, it has the kind of tidy presentation that will make you love showing off the full package at car shows. But when you look beyond the shine, you'll see a 239 cubic-inch flathead V8 built for reliable performance. It now features a Holley four-barrel carburetor, Offenhauser heads, and a new aluminum radiator. The V8 makes a seriously sweet rumble from the glasspack dual exhaust. The three-speed manual transmission was rebuilt in 2020 - a $3,000 investment. It means you're in confident control of the powerband, and there's even overdrive for highway cruising.
The sale comes complete with the owner's manual and build receipts. This is the Ford with classic hot rod style and the right investments to let you drive and show it off to plenty of faraway places. Call now!
