This detailed 1939 Ford Deluxe Convertible Restomod is the kind of custom most of us only dream of owning. A shining and fuel-injected small block, a leather-lined A/C interior, four-wheel disc brakes, an overdrive transmission, and a sleek yet classic style on the outside makes for a thoughtful build that takes years to get right if you started from scratch. So it's awesome to find a low-mileage build that's ready right now.
The premium Gibbons fiberglass body is a stellar presentation. It makes sure all the curves that Ford created decades ago are accented by great custom features like the chopped appearance and deleted bumper that give it a pure street machine attitude. The flush-fitting trunk is now even on an electric hinge for that extra bit of showman style. In fact, the door handles are just for display, because this has remote door poppers! The brightwork on the hood, teardrop headlights, two-piece wheel trim, and whitewalls are all part of that classic Ford look that we love. It helps you really see how this one respects its vintage heritage while also being a unique custom. A great example of how this all works in harmony is in the well-fitting body that gives you the iconic crease that starts at the hood and continues until it creates the trunk line. But where a factory car may have used brightwork to showcase this design line, this street-wise custom showcases it with an artistic brown pinstripe and red accents. And the Cream Beige paint has the look of a 1930s machine, except the deep gloss can't help but remind you it's a modern application on a build with less than 12k miles.
The beige convertible top has such a harmonious appearance with the paint that this is one of the few convertibles that looks terrific with the top in place. But we bet you'll want to take it down just to showcase the exceptional interior. The bright red inside looks great against the red wheels and red accents to make this look like quite a thoughtful package inside and out. The exterior cream beige even returns on the dash. More than just well-coordinated, the full package is about a luxurious experience. The carpeting is plush, the seats are supple leather, there's a custom wraparound rear panel, a fully finished trunk, and the doors even have integrated courtesy lights. There are even the right luxuries for all-day driving, like power windows, an AM/FM/CD stereo, and modern R134a air conditioning. There's also a Lokar floor shifter, upgraded readouts, and the banjo-style sports steering wheel is mounted on an Ididit tilt column. So you know this comfy custom was also made to be driven.
Grab your sunglasses before lifting the hood, because there was a nice investment in attention-grabbing polished components. And once you look beyond the flash, you'll see the substance of a fuel-injected 350 cubic-inch V8. It has all the right features you want, like upgraded pulleys, a serpentine belt, and an aluminum radiator with electric fan. And a nice set of shorty headers add power and rumble as they exhale into the dual exhaust. Take some time to look at the full undercarriage photos where you'll see a strong Pete & Jakes chassis, a TCI tubular A-arm front suspension, ladder bar rear, adjustable coilovers, a Currie 9-inch rear, and Wilwood four-wheel power disc brakes. Add in power steering and the four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive, and you've got a stellar rod that you can easily drive anywhere.
