Description:
Doc Brown summed it up perfectly: “Marty, he's in a '46 Ford, we're in a DeLorean. He'd rip through us like we were tin foil!” Knowing that the new '41 Ford was only in production til 1942, and then was continued from 1946 to 1948, we're technically talking about the same car here, but all these model years were known for their excellent radios, excellent brakes and their fantastic handling which was among the best of ordinary cars of the time. Super Deluxe also offered a higher quality and better trim than the base models – and this one comes in a very interesting color combination, too!
The recent owner acquired the Ford in 2016 after it had just gone through an extensive frame-off, nut 'n bolt restoration. Its odometer shows 062,590 original miles, and it's now up for sale since the owner is giving up his classic car hobby. The clean Minnesota title is in the owner's name, the Super Deluxe is represented by “Classic Rides and Rods” in Annandale, MN.
During its restoration in 2015/2016, the Ford had been resprayed in its factory color scheme - “Florentine Blue” with white (new) canvas convertible top, contrasted by a red leather interior. The glossy paint appears flawless, the body's soft curves and smooth lines are accentuated, but plenty of chrome trim is in excellent condition. Red painted steel wheels with chrome hubcaps and white wall tires round up this classic look.
Very stylish and surprisingly peppy in combination with the “Florentine Blue” exterior is the interior in red leather and white dash inserts, steering wheel, seat belts and convertible top boot. Speedometer, a set of three aftermarket gauges mounted underneath the dashboard and all electric gadgets work exactly as designed, including the power-assisted convertible top.
The non-numbers-matching 3.9 Liter/239 cu in Flathead V8 rated at 95 hp was upgraded with Offenhauser heads, Holley 4 barrel carburetor and lots of chrome. It is connected to a “Three on a tree” 3-speed manual transmission and 8 inch rear end. The engine bay (like the rest of the vehicle) is absolute car show material, the electrical system operates on 12 Volts, the brakes were upgraded to power-assisted discs.
“Classic Rides and Rods” in Annandale, MN inspected the vehicle extensively in-house; they will happily answer all your questions for detailed information.
Originally a transition model, the “pre- and post” WWII Ford quickly became a favorite with pop culture and Hot Rod fans alike. Its great handling and good performance is legendary, and with a fluffed up engine bay, spiced up engine, upgraded brake system and 12 Volts, you can fully enjoy the 1940's style without making sacrifices in safety or performance. This is simply a fantastic American classic – even in red-white-blue!
