Description:
Original numbers matching, low miles, California black plates, factory 4-speed, bench seat, 390 V8, drop top and long term ownership history since new are just a few of the reasons that make this fantastic convertible one you can’t pass up. This Galaxie 500 has traveled just 126,431 miles since the current Owner went with his friend to pick it up brand new in 1963. Original title, receipts and owner’s manual are all included. Plus, it comes with a Diner Booth trailer made from the back of an identical Galaxie!
It would be an awesome find with an unknown story, but that’s not the case here. The Owner’s friend/brother ordered it in 1963 and then many years later, he bought it from him. Now it’s time to let it go to the next caretaker who will love and appreciate it. The car is California rust free and has been living in a rural area of California with its former A/A Drag Racing Owner. With its matching trailer you are ready for car show cruising! Clean and clear title in Owner’s name.
Old skool blue scallops show off the body lines just right on this white Galaxie. Aluminum wheels and white walls set it off nicely. The white top works as it should and opens you up to a sunny day of cruising where the sky’s the limit. Kustom touches are not over the top and some you have to look for like the frenched dual antennas. Blue tonneau cover is included. Lately the car has been trailered to shows, so the exterior has been very well preserved.
The blue interior was re-done a few years ago, but is still in fantastic shape since the car has seen mostly car show duty for quite some time. The bench seat is a rare combo with the 4-speed on the floor and comes in handy for cruising with your girlfriend and taking in a Drive-In Movie. Tune in to your favorite ‘60’s radio station or pop in a cassette with your Jensen aftermarket sound system.
This original numbers matching 390 V8 was balanced and blueprinted at 77k miles and still runs strong. The rare factory 4-speed puts you in control and makes it a blast to run through the gears in this time machine. Chrome tipped dual exhaust provides a nice rumble. The 390 V8 crossed checkered flag Thunderbird fender badges tell the truth about this potent ride and provide a stoplight competition warning.
It’s a survivor and a driver welcome at any show. The car has been sitting for awhile, but has been run on a regular basis. Recently it received a tune and a going over supervised by the Owner. The front clip from the donor car used to build the trailer is available and so is a vintage Tri-Power set-up. Original documents from when the car was new are included and the full history since day one is known. It runs and drives strong. Everything works including the top.
It’s a great opportunity when you come across a car like this. The car is rare and so is the story. Big cars of this era with big block power and factory 4-speeds are very desirable and the market reflects that. This is an honest car with a very special history and has been taken care of and enjoyed in the dry climate of California. It’s a terrific part of early 60’s Kustom Kulture and is a Ford icon. The drop top and unique trailer only add to the fun of ownership. Don’t let it pass you by.
