MILEAGE: 18,799 SINCE RESTORED, (IT HAD 80K MILES ON IT FROM 1934 TILL THE RESTORATION)
This 1934 Ford Deluxe Tudor sedan has been carefully restored over a span of many years. The seller always wanted a 1934 Ford sedan and sought to build as nice an example as he could. To that end, many original components were used and any reproduction parts were ones manufactured to OE standards. To improve driveability and safety without impacting outward appearances, the seller added hydraulic brakes, turn signals, and a Columbia overdrive rear axle.
HEATER WORKS, IN FCT EVERYTHING WORKS!
POWERTRAIN
The engine components in this sedan are all 1934 Ford, with the exception of the block, which is a 1935-1936 unit that was chosen for its insert type bearings (compared to the 1934 Babbitt bearings). The 221-cu.in. flathead V-8 engine components were either new or reconditioned, per the seller. The aluminum cylinder heads were shaved .020-inch. The three-speed manual transmission has a new clutch and pressure plate, and works “perfectly,” with no problems, according to the seller. A Columbia overdrive differential with 4.10:1 gears was installed for improved highway cruising.
EXTERIOR
This 1934 sedan underwent an extensive restoration after taking the car down to the bare frame. The seller says, “every component, nut, and bolt has been addressed in the effort to bring the finished car to the highest museum level standards.” He added that painting the dark green body with black fenders and yellow pinstriping cost approximately $12,000 and was completed in 2008 using OE matching paint. Many hours were spent aligning the doors, fenders, and hood, according to the seller, who rates the paint condition as a “97 out of 100.” There is no current rust, but some repairs were done below the doors using new metal during the restoration. All the glass is new safety glass with the Ford logo and Ford window wind deflectors were added. All the seals were replaced during the restoration.
INTERIOR
The interior was restored using an OE-style mohair upholstery kit from LeBaron Bonney. The dashboard and windowsills were “woodgrain” painted. The carpet is all new and the headliner is “perfect,” according to the seller. All the gauges are connected and working, including a rare liquid gas gauge. There is an OE Ford ashtray radio in working condition. The rear view mirror has an 8-day clock in it. The new wiring harness is an OE-style cloth-covered unit. The steering wheel has been detailed and is in good condition, with no cracks, per the seller. The heater is a 1934 HaDees accessory unit.
CHASSIS
The car was converted to hydraulic brakes in June 2021. New hubs, brakes, and finned drums were installed by a professional shop at a cost of $4,000, according to the seller. The shock absorbers were rebuilt and the front spring is new.
DOCUMENTATION
The seller states that this vehicle will be sold on a clean California title. Additional documentation includes a “banker’s box full of legal info, and parts and labor receipts that go with the car.” This 1934 Ford Deluxe Tudor sedan comes with a lot of spare parts, including dual Stromberg carbs on an Edmonds intake manifold, fog lights, sun visor brackets, starter, generator, voltage regulator, distributor, Ford tool kit, and a Columbia differential manual. The seller reports that he is only the car’s fourth owner.
