Wondering what became of the venerable Toyota Land Cruiser? It grew up and added an upmarket brother, the Lexus LX470, and this 2007 model is a fantastic example of just how durable these machines really are. With the same legendary off-roading prowess as the Land Cruiser, it's filled with leather, woodgrain, and luxury features that Lexus is famous for, and has been further upgraded with excellent off-road goodies that really put it over the top.
The SUV craze was still in high gear in 2007, and when Lexus needed a full-sized 4x4 to go toe-to-toe with the likes of the Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and Range Rover, it needed to do nothing but reach into the Toyota inventory and pull out some Land Cruisers. Of course, being Lexus, it just wouldn't do to leave them basic, so they got a full makeover in the Lexus idiom including a rounder, more upscale-looking front fascia and gorgeous paints to counter the butch look. The elegant white color should be familiar, as it was the most popular choice on the LX-series SUVs, and it, as much as anything, makes this easy to identify as a Lexus at a glance. This one has obviously been modified from stock, with a refreshing in 2021 that brought along a new grille and headlight assembly, an ARB Sahara front bumper complete with LED lamps, a Warn winch, and a chrome push bar, and a matching, swing-away ARB rear bumper that includes a mounted bright-red 'Jerry' gas can and high-lift jack. They also set the body atop some rugged 18-inch Fuel alloy wheels that look killer, and added a matching spare out back to finish off the off-road ready look. For being nearly 15 years old, it remains in great condition thanks to quality workmanship at the factory and dutiful maintenance from just three Texas owners. There are, of course, a few signs of use and age, which is inevitable even on a Lexus, but overall the preservation is pretty impressive. You can tell this was not a vehicle used to its potential on the trails, it's just too clean.
The Lexus upgrades are very visible inside, where everything is wrapped in high-quality materials. Beautiful tan leather buckets look like they were borrowed from the top-of-the-line LS sedan, there's burled walnut trim everywhere you look, and the color combination is elegant and tasteful, not off-road functional. This is a truck that is right at home at the opera or out on the range. Big, round digital gauges give a clear look at the engine's vitals and every luxury feature available in 2007 was included, from automatic climate control to power windows, locks, seats, and mirrors, a sunroof, and cruise control, all of which seems to be working properly. You also get an AM/FM/CD/BT/Navigation system that's controlled through the multi-media screen in the center of the dash, and airbags stashed throughout the cabin ensure the driver and passengers can feel safe. There's plenty of storage space as well, where the 3rd row seats neatly fold up to the side to make way for all your gear, and a thick, durable rubber mats protected the fine carpets below.
Toyota's rugged and reliable Land Cruiser V8 engine was punched out to 4.7 liters to move three tons of Lexus, and it's a good choice. It's smooth, torquey, and has already proven itself around the world as one of the most reliable machines ever built. It's very well maintained and had the very expensive timing belt service completed at 90K miles, so there's no need to worry about major upkeep in the near future. It starts easily and runs superbly, churning power through a 5-speed automatic overdrive transmission and with its state-of-the-art Adjustable Height Control and Adaptive Variable Suspensions systems, this a real off-roader, not a poser. The aforementioned 18-inch Fuel wheels come wrapped with a meaty set of 285/65/18 Nitto Ridge Grappler's, giving it a very beefy look.
There's a reason you don't see many of these for sale: the owners don't want to let them go. Combining the unbeatable go-anywhere abilities of the Land Cruiser with the luxury of a Lexus is a winning combination, even today. Call now!
