It is a 1967 Pontiac GTO tribute, made with correct GTO badges and panels from a very nice '67 Tempest body. No rust. More info and pics available.
For the overall authentic GTO feel, all factory style emblems and trim are used. The car was taken off the frame and totally restored with a professional paint job and professionally color sanded and polished. The glass is all new.
The trim around the windows is original and restored. The lower trim around the rockers are new reproduction as are the front and rear bumpers. All rust and the minor body dents and dings were repaired at the time of the paint job and there is no rust in the car. (More detailed pics on request.)
-GM LS3/376/480HP new crate engine. GM also supplied the engine wire harness and PCM controller. Factory installed GM 480 horsepower camshaft. Based on private dyno tests this number is conservative. For pulleys there is a Vintage Air Front Runner kit for the LS3. It is the black powder coat option. There is a modern, in-tank fuel pump mounted inside a new stock style GTO gas tank with new custom fuel lines and accessible fuel filter for maintenance
. The radiator is an Afco aluminum unit with dual electric fans wired on relays and controlled by the GM PCM. Hedman ceramic coated, long tube headers and Pypes mufflers with a custom full length exhaust system exiting straight out the back with chrome tips. The cam has a slight, tasteful, racing chop to it that says; "Very Healthy Muscle Car!" The mufflers keep it fun yet tame so it's not obnoxious.
-Tremec TKO-600 manual 5 speed transmission is brand new for this build as well. Science Friction single disk clutch and a hydraulic throw-out bearing pushed by a Wilwood master cylinder. A proper fitting, new driveshaft was also included in the conversion kit.
- The rear end is a BOP (Buick, Olds, Ponitac) 10 bolt. These 10 bolts are a little stronger than the Chevy units from the day. A new Eaton Posi is installed with a 3.55:1 gears.
- Full suspension and brakes are upgraded with CPP tubular control arm kit on the front with QA1 adjustable coil overs and a large sway bar. Tubular control arms set up the rear as a four link in the factory points. QA1 shocks and a sway bar service the rear as well. CPP disc brakes all around
. It is their "big brake kit" with drilled and slotted rotors; 12" and 8" front and rear respectively. Wheels are from BOSS. Model #338. They are 18X8 in the front and 18X10 out back. This all makes for a perfect muscle car stance.
-For the interior: This build features black Pro Car seats in the front with factory style lap and shoulder seat belts.
To carry on the authentic GTO feel throughout the interior; the door panels, rear seat cover, carpet and dash bezel are all new reproduction parts. The gauges are custom made by Speed Hut. I-did-it steering column with a Grant steering wheel is installed. Vintage Air supplied the AC/heater system controlled by a modified stock control panel
. The radio is a 1967 Pontiac AM/FM unit and has been modified to accept a Bluetooth connection or an 1/8" jack to play music from a device. There are two 6 inch speakers in the kick panels. The center console is a 1966 type in favor over the wood grain of the '67.
- Aside from the new GM PCM wire harness, a complete upgraded wiring harness from American Autowire is used along with related switches and sockets.
Its a perfect car for cruising to a local car show, entry level auto-cross racing and/or carrying luggage for an economical, classy, long weekend road trip in a classic that represents muscle car history with a modern flare and responsibility.
"Diversity" is a perfect word for this beautiful car. If a true GTO is out of financial reach, this is a committed representation of the real thing with tasteful, modern upgrades at an affordable cost. It's still a popular, classic, collector any way you look at it.
