Description:
1995 Porsche 911 Carrera
For consignment, a 1995 Porsche 911 Carrera with a title verified 40,607 actual miles, an example of the now legendary 993 series 911 that pops like the 3 ball on a pool table. It's a 2 owner car that's been garage kept with some recent maintenance that will shrink the new owner's "to do" list.
Exterior
Red is synonymous with sports cars and looks very nice on this 911. It's Guards Red of course, in two stage glossy goodness that includes the sport mirrors, door handles, front fascia, and the fixed brake light bar on back. The red is enhanced by black trim that appears on the windows, the taillight trim, the bumper guards, the script Carrera rear deck logo, and the air intake louvers on the retractable wing. Like a gold charm, the Porsche crest shines bright on the nose, dead center between the round lightly smoked headlights while the 5 spoke wheels have been refurbished with paint. A solid sunroof retracts into the body with the push of a button allowing for some open air exposure and fresh air during those windy mountain road treks. Chin scrapes and a slight hood to nose misalignment are the only imperfections we can find on the exterior.
Interior
Black covers the door panels which are functional and efficient, just as German design would dictate and features seem to virtually disappear in their monochromatic presentation. There's a simplicity and efficiency to the sport bucket seats as well, dressed in black leather with multiple electronic adjustment controls on both seats. The driver's seat shows some light patina with wrinkling and a touch of wear, but they're both in otherwise great shape. The back seats are mere suggestions and better suited as light cargo bins. Sitting upright, you're presented with a leather wrapped steering wheel in front of a vertical instrument gauge for which Porsche is renowned, five dials of information in a straight line. No fancy shapes, no wild configuration. Simple. Efficient. The AM/FM/Cassette radio is in the center, well within reach of your navigator, who isn't all that far from you and might even be rubbing elbows. A sweet shifter is in the center console, yes, an old school manual, and black carpet covers the floors along with Porsche branded carpeted mats. A smooth headliner surrounds the sunroof, and the frunk is finished in black carpet, all looking nice.
Drivetrain
Under the rear hatch is Porsche's venerable 3.6 liter SOHC 6 cylinder engine producing 270 horsepower through an aluminum block and heads. In a car that weighs 3,080 pounds, Car and Driver was able to clip 60 mph in 4.7 seconds in 1995, and that's quick by any measure. A 6-speed manual is standard and keeps power in the back with 3.44 gears. Power disc brakes are found at all four corners.
Undercarriage
Like most Porsches, its belly pan city underneath with about 90% covered in flat panels. Wheel components and suspension have some road dust but are otherwise dry and free of grease. Independent suspension is found front and rear and for this new generation, improvements were made to the rear. Here's how Car and Driver described it. "Two upper links and a lower control arm replace the semi-trailing arms of yore, and clever control of rear toe greatly settles the 911's inbred tendency to snap spin in the hands of the unskilled, unwary, or unlucky." Dual exhaust on this car flows through original equipment mufflers
Drive-Ability
Considered by many the most enjoyable car to drive on a regular basis, the 993 911 is fast, tossable, and comfortable. Unlike other sports cars, you're upright, almost high, and road visibility is stupendous, the body position is active. Our car handled great, tracked straight, and accelerated like a full back with an open field ahead. As a quality piece of German engineering, all workable functions in and on the car operated as intended. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
Maintenance including fluids, belts, and battery have been completed recently, per our consignor, and this little red rocket with the famous name is ready to take residence in new surroundings. We all know of open roads near where we live, and this star of Stuttgart will gladly oblige to provide miles of smiles for its next caretaker. Then, in Lester from American Beauty style, you'll be able to proclaim, "It's a 1995 Porsche 911 Carrera. The car I've always wanted and now I have it. I rule!"
