This '92 features two stage Pewter Gray Metallic over Silver Metallic on the lower third, delineated with a broad band of polished molding which is contiguous and becomes accenting for front and rear bumpers. 15-inch wheels have wire wheel covers and 70 series tires with an early 2023 date code. Imperfections include cracking throughout the vinyl landau, a rock chip on the windshield, some minor blistering at a wheel opening, and a scuff on lower edge of rear valance.  Interior Sporty elegance is how we'd describe the interior beginning with the well appointed door panels with pleated insert, plastic woodgrain faceplates, integrated courtesy lights, and carpeted lower, and both present nicely. The bucket seats are broad, constructed of stitched gray leather with some light compression and wear on the driver's side, but shotgun rider and rear occupants enjoy robust and clean seating. Modern for '92 is the digital dash, surrounded in simulated burlwood, and when power is off, appears as a clean black screen. Hit the power and dash lights up like a Christmas tree and it will look familiar for denizens of 80's arcades. A push button climate panel and familiar Delco AM/FM/Cassette radio is integrated into the center stack and we follow the wood down to the center console where the shifter resides with some lights on the slide panel. A spring loaded coin holder, convenient for paying tolls, is in the console, a sign of the times and a nice throwback. Gray carpet below, a slightly lumpy foam backed headliner above, and a trunk finished in gray cloth panels completes our tour of the inside.  Drivetrain Buick's venerable 3.8 liter V6 is on board, transverse mounted and putting out 170 fuel injected horsepower. It's mated to a TH440 4-speed automatic transmission with power being routed through 2.84 gears up front. The bay presents in clean, driver quality condition.  Undercarriage Road spray, some surface rust, and typical metal oxidation is present underneath where things are otherwise clean. Power disc brakes occupy front and rear and so does independent suspension, with Macpherson struts in front and transflex monoleaf spring in back. A single exhaust runs through the original muffler, exiting through a cut out in the rear apron.  Drive-Ability Like a compact luxury cruiser, this Buick provides a comfortable and manageable interior and the reliable V6 delivers decent power. The ride is satisfying too with straight tracking, fine handling and braking on demand. We note the service A/C light is on and the driver's power lock switch does not unlock the doors. Beyond that, all functions on the colorful dash and beyond operate as they should. This was the Riviera convertible's first year on the market and GM had plans to build less than 500, but fervent interest, especially from dealers, prompted them to build more.  Exterior Bathed single stage Red Firemist Metallic, the body presents in excellent condition and so does the white canvas top above with the small glass rear window that is even equipped with a defogger. The chrome bumpers both front and rear as well as the bumperette present nice and shiny with no dimpling or corrosion. Even the black trim strips laid into the chrome remain intact and mar free. The brightwork is clean and the trim around the rear of the top is equipped with buttons for the snap on tonneau cover, and a boot is included. 15-inch chrome wire wheel covers are adorned with the same Riviera R logo we see on the hood ornament. One of the covers has a ding and the other has light curb rash. The only other imperfection is a touched up scratch by a wheel opening.  Interior With the top lowered we are allowed a bird's eye view of the luxurious Dark Red buckets seats with tuck and roll patterning and some patina creasing and fade on the driver's side while the rear bench and passenger seat are in nice shape. More red makes an appearance on the door panels with brushed stainless inserts for the switchgear and simulated burlwood behind the door pull and over the speaker. This wood reappears to dress the stainless frame of the seats and then to frame the entire instrument cluster ahead where all straight and square and rectangle design right out of the 80's and we remember it with fondness and this one has held up well. An AM/FM/Cassette is on board along with the Riv's daring electronic climate panel.  Very clean deep pile red carpeting covers the floors, while the trunk is fully finished with gray cloth panels.   Drivetrain Clean, busy, and a 1982 time capsule, here we have a 307ci V8 topped with a 4-barrel carburetor and rated at 140 horsepower. It is mated with a TH325-4L  4-speed automatic transmission that keeps power up front through 2.73 gears.   Undercarriage Typical surface rust and mostly dry conditions are found under the car with only residual oil on the pans. Giving this Buick its trademark ride is an independent torsion bar front suspension and a torsion beam and coil spring rear suspension and for the stopping power we note power disc brakes both front and rear. Wire wheel covers on the 15-inch rims are complemented by the white wall tires. Finally, a hood ornament, rare by today's standards, caps the hood. Other than some dulling on the bumper fillers, we could find no exterior imperfections on this car. Interior In the pinnacle of early 90's luxury, simulated burlwood was used to dress up interiors, and we see it here on the door, a nice contrast to the red vinyl inserts and carpeted lower as it surrounds switchgear on both doors. The drivers' side shows some patina with taped repairs and some wear near the door pull. Leather bucket seats are in good standing with some typical compression and wrinkles for the pilot and both front and rear occupants share a center armrest with a wall cloaked in dark red the Europeans would call oxblood. A rather plain steering wheel presents to the driver, one horn cover coming loose, and fronts a burlwood dash face plate that runs the width and frames the fully digital instrument cluster reminiscent of early computers before Apple came along. The center stack favors the driver and holds the climate control panel and familiar Delco radio. Full words instead of letters indicate what gear you're in and they are changed via the stout T-handle shifter in a sea of faux burlwood. design from Bill Mitchell was classic on day one and arguably will be attractive 100 years from now.  And with its 340 horsepower engine, it's a debonair driver with some potency.  Exterior We'll start with the color, which is Marlin Blue, but you could paint this design virtually any color and still have a great looking car.  The star of the show is the front where ribbed columns cover the markers, leading to peaked roofs that are the fenders, wrapped at the base by a contouring chrome bumper.  Dual headlights which exist in individual cylinders are inboard on an egg crate grille that follows the shape of the pointed hood.  In profile, quintessentially 60's with long, narrow panels and faux fender ducts on the back in an age when faux accents were a thing.  The tail is a counter to the elaborate front, simple rectangular tail lights after a flat trunk lid and above a curvaceous bumper that takes in the license plate box.  It's here we find some detail trim on the reverse lights while the Riviera "R" logo is placed on the tail lights.  On this car, twin chrome pipes protrude from underneath.   The paint shines with original like luster and is in very good condition, as is the brightwork.  Imperfections include bubbling in several spots, cracking paint, surface rust at the rocker panel, and some just beginning to form on a bumper wrap around.  Interior Striped cloth on the door panels has seen better days and might benefit from some restoration, while the panel is intact including the carpeted kick panels.  The striped material fares better on the bucket seats, surrounded by blue vinyl that wears a tear on the driver's seat, but all looks well on the passenger seat and the 2+2 seating in back.  A biscuit tufted pad covers the package tray behind the seats for an added detail we rarely see.  Patina lives on the blue steering wheel with plenty of hairline cracks and faded paint on the horn bar.  Up front, the original instrument panel is backed by ribbed metal while the center stack is basking in black, cleanly housing an AM/FM radio and the vent controls.  We follow the textured black to the center console, home to the chrome shifter in a metallic plate, all over blue loop carpet in good condition and under a blue headliner where one seam is torn, and others are stretched.  The trunk is driver quality with a rubber mat that fits nicely and a spare tire.  Drivetrain Driver quality prevails under the hood as well where we find the 425ci Nailhead V8, rated at 340 horsepower and fueled by a 4-barrel carburetor.  The bay shows its age but the simple configuration and extra room will make it easy to restore!  An ST400 3-speed automatic transmission is onboard that sends power to the rear axle housing 3.07 gears.  Power assisted drum brakes are found at all four corners.   Undercarriage Surface rust dominates the coverage underneath, replacing any black paint that the frame and components might have had.  The dual exhaust, too, is wearing a coat of the stuff and finds its way through some stock style mufflers before exiting through chrome.  Fortunately, we do not find any apparent invasive rust and very little oil underneath, just a film on the transmission pan which we would classify as residual.  The knuckles are clean and free of debris, and suspension consists of coil springs in front and a 3 link with coil springs and a panhard bar out back.  Drive-Ability We peer over the long hood, start the engine, and point the modest "R" hood ornament towards the test loop, allowing the 215/75R15 tires and standard suspension absorb the imperfection in the road.  There's power underfoot which is slightly tempered by the 4,200 pound curb weight of this blue steel Buick.  Tracking, brakes, and functional items all check out Tune in each week to the Classic Auto Mall Podcast wherever you enjoy listening. https://www.classicautomall.com/vehicles/7126/1964-buick-riviera-hardtop Buick Riviera https://hotrodhotline.com/forsale/vehicles/buick/riviera/1969/listing/223816 1969 Buick Riviera Hardtop  For consignment, a 1969 Buick Riviera hardtop with a title verified 53,980 actual miles.  In 1969, Buick's tag line was "Wouldn't you really rather have a Buick?" and the ad for the Riviera claimed, "the look is new, personal, and impressive."  And we have to agree.  There's something special about this era of Buick, and the Riviera design does not go unnoticed, more often than not finding a new home, courtesy of Classic Auto Mall.  Exterior A luxury car combined with a sports car is the mantra for this 1969 Riviera and the fascia, redesigned for '68, is striking in its uniqueness which is quite the feat because '67 was unique in its own right.  Inboard hidden headlights become part of the grille while bold marking lights provide square beacons on the outer edge of a chrome bumper that is as much an aesthetic frame as a safety device.  Our car wears a coat of Copper Mist, the color it was born with, and is dressed up with a polished rocker panel, wide window trim, and Riviera spelled out on each of its four sides.  Polished 15-inch chrome steel wheels and adherent shiny hubcaps add even more flash to the fastback-like profile that ends with a tail that rivals the front for interest, inset longitudinal tail lights appear to squint at the base of a sloping deck lid and flow through vents, and they're embedded in a chrome bumper that wraps around and contours along a circular side marker.  The paint and panels are excellent and we could not find any glaring exterior flaws. Interior Black vinyl door panels are button tufted as was common in the era and these show some patina and could use a careful detail to bring them back to life.  Cloth buckets with similar button tufting with the driver's showing some age but are in very good condition considering the soft texture of the velour, while the back bench and passenger seat are in great shape.  A simple black steering wheel fronts a gauge cluster that is all squares, also period popular, and has a mid-panel that is adorned with woodgrain applique that surrounds several toggle switches and the climate panel.  To the right, an AM radio with the imaginative feature of having BUICK spelled out on the five pushbuttons resides in its factory home.  Although the woodgrain vinyl is peeling from the center console, the shift plate is chromed and arched and putting it into gear is akin to nose up in an airplane, pulling through the half circle until it clicks into D.  Talk about party tricks and conversation pieces!  Meanwhile, black loop carpet covers the floor, the stitch ribbed headliner is in nice condition, and the trunk shows usage and would benefit from some new finishing mats.  Drivetrain Surface rust makes an occasional appearance on an otherwise clean engine, this one is a 430ci V8 rated at an impressive 360 horsepower, fueled by a 4-barrel carburetor and backed by a TH400 3-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the 10 bolt rear axle with 3.07 gears.  Power assisted drum brakes are noted on front and rear wheels.
