Throughout their run they were a direct competitor to the Ford F series and Dodge D series. These classic pickups are very popular and this clean 1968 belongs to the second generation known as the "Action Line" trucks. A lot of features carried over from the previous generation but the bodies were completely redesigned from the ground up. The idea was to offer a more utilitarian vehicle that also was available with some luxuries offered in their Sedans. This C10 is a short wheelbase Fleetside and has been beautifully customized. When you look closely at this pickup you really start to notice a ton of small well done details. It is evident that a lot of time and money has been invested to completely transform it into what is today. In a world where C10s have become quite sought after this one has no problem standing out from the crowd. It is painted in a Tanzanite Blue from BMW which has a slick shining finish. The body is all rust free and solid with good cab corners and no issues. It has the stock style front grill but it has been modified for a very clean look. All of it is new so it has a beautiful shine but the turn signals have been relocated and the bowtie emblem removed. The front bumper has a nice shine as well and it is off of a 1968 Camaro and has been sectioned plus mounted on a custom front pan. Slowly moving back to highlight the body modifications we see the cowl induction hood and filled cowl vent on our way to the doors. On the doors are custom flush mounted Kindig door handles with electric locks and the drip rails have been removed. The mirrors have been upgraded with sport style mirrors that have turn signal indicators. It has also been shaved of any side markers or trim. Moving to the glass even that is all custom. It has a Fesler flush fit windshield and back glass which are tinted. The tinted side glass is a Brothers electric solid kit which eliminates the vent windows. All of these subtle customizations really look well together and speak to how well thought out this build was. Next up is the bed and the first thing to stand out is the filled bed stake pockets so the side rails are now fully smooth. On the drivers side is also a custom Harley Davidson flush fit gas filler to fill the relocated Blazer fuel tank. This is a nice improvement because it not only looks great but gets the tank out of the interior cab. On the inside of the bed it has a complete bed liner to keep it protected and the inner fenders have been widened to accommodate a larger back tire. The tailgate is all smooth and sits between the sequential LED taillights. A 3rd brake light has also been incorporated in the license plate which is mounted into a custom rear pan. The American Racing wheels sit nicely under the fenders and are wrapped with Cooper radial tires (225/50/18 front and 265/45R/18 rear). As if all of that wasn't impressive enough just wait until you work through the mechanical side of things. Under that cowl hood is a built up 402 big block motor that runs strong putting out 400hp and 443 ft/lbs of torque based on a dyno pull. The motor is fitted with a 4 barrel Edelbrock carburetor, a polished Edelbrock intake, custom chrome valve covers, a chrome air cleaner and a March serpentine belt system. Cooling is provided by the Desert cooler radiator with electric fans and shroud. Between the radiator mount and the front grill custom panels are in place to cover the gaps to each side of the hood release. The hood hinges themselves are also aftermarket and from Eddie Motorsports. Backing up the motor power is transferred through the 700R4 automatic transmission to the 12 bolt posi rear end. The truck runs great and sounds great too. It has a fully custom dual exhaust system with electric cutouts so you can really let them hear you coming. The power brakes on it have all been redone and discs added up front. The stock suspension was all gone through as well and CPP front/rear sway bars were installed and lowering coil springs. It has zero electrical problems as it has been rewired with a American harness. The interior of the truck has been all redone in nice Black upholstery. The bucket seats, custom console, and door panels are all from TMI products and really look great in place. The console provides extra storage space and cupholders. The carpet and headliner are all custom fit. The dash is painted Blue to match the exterior and topped with a Black dash pad. It has an original style bezel but the gauges have been updated to Dakota Digital instruments. On the center of the dash is a Kenwood DPK502BT stereo. It is a very nice system with a lot of modern features and a remote. It sounds great and an amp plus subwoofer have been added. The Vintage Air heat/AC/defrost system works well and blows through adjustable chrome vents mounted into the dash. In front of the driver sits a painted to match IDIDIT tilt column with column shift, column ignition, and a 18 inch Banjo steering wheel. This truck has a ton going on and there is no doubt something has been left out of our description. Fords have their fans but the Chevy C10s have really been the focus. The C10 was introduced in 1960 and included both the "Action Line" series and the "Rounded Line (Square Body)" series. This cool '68 belongs to the 2nd generation and the "C" in C10 denotes it as a 2 wheel drive model. A lot of the mechanical components for this gen was carried over from the previous but the bodies were largely redesigned to improve their capability of being multi purpose vehicles. This truck has 94,000 total miles with approximately 15,000 miles put on it since being modified. The truck had been stored in a lakefront car port for 25 years by the previous owner after they purchased it from an estate sale. While in storage the original paint slowly weathered and developed a patina which honestly...looks great! It has intentionally been kept this way for a very cool "shop truck" look. Don't let that fool you though because it has been totally gone through and received a ton of upgrades making it an excellent driver. During the build the truck was completely disassembled and received all new body bushings, door rubbers and seals. Old school sign lettering has been added to both doors and it has custom pinstriping done by Frank Palmer. The glass is all in great shape and is actually all original. The new front and rear bumpers have nice shine as does the trim piece at the top of the tailgate. The rear lights have been converted to LED and all exterior lighting works properly. Inside of the bed the truck was redone with a new Mar-K oak bed floor with new stainless strips which look great. It sits on a set of 5 spoke polished 20 inch American Racing Torq Thrusts with Nitto tires. Turning those tires is a Chevrolet Performance ZZ4 350ci small block V8 which replaced the original 307. It has been nicely dressed up with chrome Edelbrock Chevy bowtie valve covers, a chrome alternator, and Edelbrock air cleaner. It was also upgraded with an Edelbrock ProFlow 4 fuel injection system and aluminum heads. Backing it up is a 700R4 automatic transmission and a 12 bolt posi-traction rear end with 3:73 gears. Keeping with the theme of modern mechanics hidden in a weathered exterior the truck now has 4 wheel power CPP disc brakes and 500 series power steering. It really drives out well and sounds good through the completely new and custom fabricated stainless steel exhaust. The suspension was all gone through with new lowering springs, gas shocks and custom sway bars in both front and rear with the front also having drop spindles to achieve the perfect stance. During the build it got a brand new fuel tank with sending unit and a really cool feature which is a trailer hitch that has been hidden behind the fold down rear license plate. While tore down the floor of the cab was sprayed with Lizard Skin sound deadener and Lizard Skin ceramic coating. Boom Mat and a jute pad were then put in prior to the custom molded carpets. Boom Mat can also be found insulating the doors. Keith Kirk interiors recovered the seat with overstuffed bolsters and also added custom inset cup holders which is a clever idea. It has a matching dash pad and two matching sun visors. Keeping you safe and strapped in are the more modern retractable seat belts with shoulder harnesses. On the dash is a completely new factory gauge package which includes the speedometer, tachometer, oil pressure, voltmeter, vacuum, and fuel gauges all of which are working. It also has a custom Auto Sound radio system that sounds good through the kick panel speakers and sub-woofer. The truck was ordered with factory AC but has been converted to an Old Air AC/Heat system with adjustable vents which blows much colder than stock plus utilizes modern refrigerant. In front of the driver sits a nice polished tilt steering column topped off with a very nice Banjo woodgrain steering wheel. Other very nice upgrades include the new matching door locks and Altman Bear-Claw latches which are safer and really help how smoothly but solidly the doors close.
