      <title>1963 Chevrolet Corvette</title>
      <link>https://hotrodhotline.com/forsale/vehicles/chevrolet/corvette/1963/listing/250787</link>
<description>1963 Corvette Split Window Coupe DGC8499 VIN 30837S108499 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray coupe is in "excellent" condition, and has been used "strictly for car shows and good-weather pleasure drives." Under the hood is a "L75"-code 300-horsepower 327-cu.in. V-8 engine. Powerglide automatic transmission. Factory-style knockoff wheels. Manufactured by KCM wheels to exact specifications of the original Kelsey Hayes turbine wheels. You can read about these wheels in the photos. Manual steering and power-assisted drum brakes. Little explanation is needed for the classic 1963 Corvette Sting Ray and the dramatic styling of the iconic split-window coupe. It's rolling sculpture. The example offered here is in Ermine White over red leather. According to the last owner it is said to have been purchased in its current condition and is believed to be largely original, down to the 36,400 miles on the odometer. The details of previous restoration work are unknown. It is believed to be original, although a rebuild history is unknown. Carter aluminum four-barrel carburetor, the engine is said to "start easily with a few pumps of the gas pedal," with no smoke and no leaks. The complementing two-speed automatic is also reported to "shift perfectly." The cooling system has been upgraded to include a thicker aluminum radiator and an electric fan. This Sting Ray's Ermine White paintwork matches the "936" code on the interior-mounted trim tag. The history of the paintwork is unknown, but the previous owner notes its condition as "95 percent," with no blemishes and no reported swirl marks. The exterior trim and chrome, including the 1963-only aluminum simulated hood grilles, appear to be in very good condition, with no pitting in the chrome bumpers. The body lines and panel gaps also appear to be in very good shape. Dressed in red, this Corvette's cockpit casts a striking contrast to the white exterior. The previous owner reports the cabin is in "excellent" condition, with some age-related wear is evident in the seat covers, but no holes or rips. Additionally, the carpet and headliner are said to be in "excellent" condition, while the gauges are reported as functional. The same goes for the radio, which is a later cassette unit from Custom Autosound. There is some visible wear in some of the interior trim, along with a small crack visible in the wood-rimmed steering wheel, but the overall presentation of the interior seems very good. The previous owner asserts the suspension and chassis components are in good condition, with no known issues or needs, and have been maintained to stock specifications. No known rust in the chassis, either. Equipment includes manual steering and power-assisted drum brakes, both of which are said to work well. The car rolls on "like-new" radial tires mounted on factory-style knockoff wheels. The tires are said to be in "excellent" condition and show virtually all of their remaining tread, while the wheels are said to be in "very good" condition. This is an early Corvette as it has under seat storage for both seats. We have been very impressed with the overall condition. It looks almost new on the underside. I just pulled the wheels off so I would know whether they were the original Kelsey Hayes. I found out they are KMC wheels. I have been underneath this car enough to know that it is a frame off restoration. Lots of new nuts and bolts. Everything is in excellent condition. It looks beautiful.

If you go to our webpage, dragers.com you can see over 200 photos. But if you watch the video, you can see the underside very well. We also show it being driven down the freeway.

Below I went through the numbers for you so you could see that it is a matching numbers car according to all the data shown. I've been wanting a '63 split window for sometime and I found this one with the automatic in it as I don't care about shifting. I have driven it a little bit. I took it to one car show and won a trophy. This is a very early '63 split window Corvette. I've never seen one this early before, one of the big things it has pockets under the seats for more storage. You can't put a lot in that storage area. I'm not sure why they quit using that space. They had to change the floor pan mold to do away with it. Also, on the '63 early ones the console is just like a '62 Corvette console. I would highly recommend you have it inspected or come see it yourself.

  Just for your information:

Dan Jubie just did a thorough inspection of this Corvette and if you would like a copy of it contact Dan and for $250 you can get a copy of the inspection and appraisal. Just so you know, Dan recently inspected 2 '63 Corvette split windows for someone else so he is knowledgeable on '63 Corvettes.

<description>1963 Corvette Grand Sport Coupe The Corvette presented here is an attempt to duplicate Grand Sport chassis #0004. The car was owned by Grady Davis and driven by famed driver, Don Yenko. This car started life as a 1963 silver coupe with dark blue interior. By the time it was retrieved from an Ohio junkyard in 2000, the only things remaining were the center section bird-cage, two doors, and the title. Attached to the frame is a ’91 Corvette suspension system, including wheel hubs and disc brakes. Adjustable coil-over shocks are present up front with Carrera adjustable shocks in the rear. A Rock Valley stainless steel custom fuel cell resides in-between the frame rails. The power source is a 1971 LT1 Corvette engine stroked to 377 cu. In. and sporting a “Comp Cam”, forged pistons, big valve heads, and a cross ram intake manifold with four Weber DCOE 45 carbs. Compression was increased to 10:1 to be closer to the 1970 370 hp LT1 specifications. A close ratio Muncie 4 speed transmission completes the drive train. The tires are 60 series Goodyear Eagles. Dark blue ’63 seats and carpeting along with white faced Autometer gauges, plus a roll bar with Simpson racing shoulder restraints and seat belts. There is a storage trunk in the rear. Creature comforts include “Vintage Air” air conditioning, tilt telescopic steering wheel, power steering and 4 wheel power disc brakes, as well as an AM/FM radio and CD player. <link>https://hotrodhotline.com/forsale/vehicles/chevrolet/corvette/1963/listing/238047</link>
<description>INTRODUCTION: 4 x NCRS Top Flight winner, 35,779 actual miles, 1 owner for 45 years! Factory Tuxedo Black is extremely desirable, add to it the saddle tan interior and you have one extremely rare combination! Oh yeah, it's a fuel injected, #s matching car as well.

HISTORY: Scrutinized by several experts and repeatedly given top honors. You can rest assured this car is legit! Thomas Ranker bought the car in 1980 and owned it until 2024, 44 years! While he owned the car he won numerous awards including 3 Top Flights, Bloomington Silver Certified, 1st place Corvettes at Carlisle and more. He took such an interest he went on to become an NCRS judge himself (not allowed to judge his own car). It was his baby and he carefully maintained its low miles and originality. He sold it to Scott C. on 3-29-24, a collector who had been after the car for years. Scott had it judged again and it won Top Flight for the fourth time. It scored 3643/3750 points (40 points deducted for not having original hubcaps). We know Scott C. and I talked him out of the car for my Dad's collection. Scott regretted selling it, I'm sure my Dad will too!

EXTERIOR: Factory born Tuxedo Black! Verified multiple times by multiple experts. Claimed to be a no hit body, it is straight and fits right. The headlights open and close properly, the doors can be shut with your pinky! The paint is polished so slick a fly couldn't land on it but it is about 40 years old and does have minor flaws. All of the chrome is bright. The "early" cars had a roller latch on the fuel door and a short stem bow tie mirror, this has both including correctly dated glass in the mirror. The moldings around the windows are straight and fit right. The glass is all original according to the date codes I deciphered, an original windshield helps verify low miles. It also has correct T3 headlights and reproduction BFG SilverTown tires. The knock off wheels are always a highly desirable feature.

INTERIOR: Factory Saddle Tan interior, verified by experts. It is in outstanding condition floor to ceiling and very functional. The carpet front to back looks fresh and installed properly. The dash pads, door panels and headliner are mint. The original 1963 gauges include the 6500 redline tachometer - correct for a Fuelie. They all work including the clock, the original radio works too. The glove box door is 1963 only and in mint shape, inside is too. The console looks original and very good, home to the correct 4-speed shifter. The seat upholstery is excellent, the seatbelts are original. All of the trim, knobs etc are in great shape, everything fits properly too. The correct jack and lead hammer for the knock off wheels is in the rear compartment.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Verified multiple times by experts, this is the original motor. Codes, casting #s, dates and VIN #s match. All the components are correct and proper. It has ignition shielding, finned valve covers that matches the finned fuel injection unit, correct hoses and clamps, even the belt is correct! It is detailed like the day it rolled off the assembly line. The 327-360hp engine is quite potent. It features a hot cam, mechanical lifters, domed pistons, high compression and the Rochester fuel injection.

UNDERSIDE: 1963 was the first year for front and rear independent suspension. It was rebuilt and restored to factory condition from the black spiral shocks to the assembly line markings. It has its correct drum brake system all around, the e-brake assembly is hooked up. The dual exhaust is correct down to the GM part numbers on the mufflers and the polished tips going out through the valence. Looking up at the motor it is clean Chevy Orange, has the correct starter and canister type oil filter. The 4-speed transmission is VIN # matching and date coded to this car. The driveshaft leads back to its original posi rear end with 3.70 gears. The floors are excellent raw fiberglass like it's supposed to be, not painted over. The spare tire carrier is in great shape and complete including the original lock.

SERVICE: We take pride in our cars and reputation. Therefore, we built a 2 million dollar, 10,000 square ft service center, and hired a team of technicians to service the essentials on every car we sell.

CONCLUSION: This is a holy grail of split windows. Whether it goes to the most prestigious collection, or in someone's garage, you can rest assured that it is one of the most desirable in existence!

Vehicles are displayed in a museum setting. Admission applies without an appointment and is refunded with purchase, including a one-year museum membership.

<description>INTRODUCTION: White with red leather! Yes, it is beautiful. The legendary "Split Window" is considered an iconic American automotive design. It holds steady as one of the most collectible Corvettes of all time. This one features an amazing color combination and very desirable power steering and power brakes.

EXTERIOR: 1963 to 1967 coupes are more desirable than the roadsters because of their good looks and that is abundantly true of the 1963 because of that split back window. This one is absolutely beautiful in its original code 936 Ermine White. The body looks great! The doors shut like new, fiberglass headlight doors open and close, hood fits square and flush. The paint is polished smooth and glossy. I walked around the car and did not see a flaw, when you get up close and inspect it you'll find some minor hairline cracks. It looks like it has the original glass in good shape. The bumpers, grilles on the hood, the mirror and gas cap door have been replaced. It has the early roller catch gas door. We just added brand new knock-off wheels and it really enhances the car! The radial white wall tires look sharp too.

INTERIOR: Factory code 490L red interior. I'm sitting in the car and it is exceptionally nice in here! We just installed brand new glove soft leather upholstery on the seats. The red carpets are fresh front to back and includes embroidered floor mats. The correct, 1963 only, gauges look to be in excellent shape and they work. The dash pads and the correct glove box door are excellent. Inside is an original owner's manual. It has the correct optional AM/FM radio and red seatbelts. The original aluminum center console looks very good and is home to the correct reverse lockout shifter. The door panels and armrests are excellent, the headliner and visors are excellent. The red steering wheel looks new. Pretty much everything I'm looking at is in great shape!

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It has a correct 327-300 horsepower engine, the casting # and engine suffix are correct. It has stock manifolds, valve covers, Carter carb and dual snorkel air cleaner. It even has the ignition shielding, upper and lower. Two very desirable options are power steering and power brakes. It has the correct dated Harrison radiator and expansion tank, reproduction hoses and clamps. Overall it looks proper and clean.

UNDERSIDE: This is the first year for independent front and rear suspension. It has been maintained as needed. It appears to be in great shape and drives down the road real nice. The dual exhaust looks new and exits through the valance with the correct polished tips. Looking up at the motor it is clean and has a correct canister type oil filter and a correct starter. The VIN number matching Muncie 4 speed was just rebuilt. It has its correct rear end with 3.08 posi gears, code CJ, dated 63. The original fiberglass floors look to be very well preserved, the spare tire carrier is in place too. The frame is solid and was painted black.

SERVICE: We take pride in our cars and reputation. Therefore, we built a 2 million dollar, 10,000 square ft service center, and hired a team of technicians to work it. This is so we can sell you the best cars within reason.

CONCLUSION: We have been dealing in split window Vettes since the early 70s, I've never seen the demand slow down! This one is a nice example and the colors really put it over the top.

      <description>1963 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible

For consignment, a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette convertible with a title verified 53,180 actual miles. This example has a numbers matching drivetrain and a laundry list of newer items including everything from the fuel system to suspension components. It comes with the factory accessory hardtop.

 Exterior
3,212 Corvettes left the factory is Silver Blue Metallic in 1963 and it's aptly named as a silvery light blue covers America's sports car in what some would argue is the best color. In the right light, subtle body lines are accentuated by shadows including the crease in each fender and the horizontal twin fender vents that will hold over to '64, their final year before a redesign. A gentle crease runs the center of the decklid and onto the cowl cover for the soft top, while exhaust tips protrude through the body panel beneath the chrome bumper. Large hood vents flank the torpedo shaped detail puts the "sting" in Sting Ray, coming to a point just past the hood gap. Chrome wheel covers fit the 15-inch wheels on which white wall 205/75R15 tires with a mid 2020 date code ride, between the finned rocker trim synonymous with classic Vettes of this era. The white canvas top and its window, the paint, and metalwork are all in overall great condition. Imperfections include small scratches and cracking paint, various bubbles, a few areas of evident filler, and a crack in the fiberglass at a wheel arch.

  Interior
Swing open the doors to reveal a vertical insert of pleated styling split by a polished trim piece, then a smooth bottom panel, all in very dark blue. All the navy blue is offset by chrome window cranks, sliding knob for a door actuator, and two jet age reflectors. Blue grain vinyl low back buckets are flanking a center armrest where some carpet has come loose. A chromed center console in gleaming goodness holds a ball handled shifter, then climbs straight up to become blue vinyl and house a side mounted radio, various knobs and pulls and large chrome bezel black faced clock. In front of the driver and passenger are two graceful cowls, one over the glovebox, and the other for the gauge cluster where we note some very slight pitting on a ring. The textured black plastic background is clean and the glovebox has a brushed aluminum door for contrast and style. The 3 spoke steering wheel has a crossed flag center badge and blue carpet in the wheel wells presents with equal good quality.

  Drivetrain
Under the hood is the clean, numbers matching 327ci L75 V8, rated at 300 horsepower and mated to the numbers matching Muncie M20 4-speed manual transmission with new shifter linkage and clutch. Power is routed to 3.36 gears and Positraction in the rear axle with a 1965 date stamping.

  Undercarriage
Lots of newer parts underneath including U-joints, fuel lines, shocks, rear suspension and brake lines on the four wheel drum system. The dual exhaust, like the rest of the underside, is clean and routes its way back through stock style mufflers.  Suspension consists of coil springs up front and transverse leaf springs with tubular axle driveshafts in the back, making both sides independent.

  Drive-Ability
A quick starter and smooth idle. Pressing the accelerator made this car come to life and on the test loop it showed us nice acceleration, good handling and smooth shifting with an easy clutch. There were no faults or frowns to speak of during our time behind the wheel save for the clock and wipers not working. All other functions operate as expected. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

Two words say it all, numbers matching. We'll add one more, clean! Obviously, the Silver Blue Metallic speaks for itself and is loved by men and women alike. This is a very special toy that's been well sorted and well maintained. It's worthy of its own garage but will understand if you have to park it next to the minivan in your two car garage.

<description>While every generation of GM's halo car has a strong argument for which one is best, this 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible makes a strong case for the C2. Fully repainted in its original Sebring Silver, this first-year second-gen car showcases the introduction of a (then) advanced new suspension and wind-influenced aerodynamics, resulting in its sleek yet aggressive body lines.

Inside, we find an attractive stock-style dark blue vinyl interior. A center console separates a pair of bucket seats, while a three-spoke, wood-rimmed steering wheel sits ahead of a six-pod gauge cluster featuring a big 7,000 rpm tachometer and 160 mph speedometer. The center stack is highlighted by a large analog clock, accompanied by simple pull-and-twist HVAC controls and a vertical AM/FM stereo, maximizing the remaining space.

Under the signature front-hinged hood, we find a clean engine bay featuring a 350 cubic-inch overhead valve V-8 engine. A single four-barrel Edelbrock carburetor sits atop a matching Edelbrock intake manifold, while stock-style exhaust manifolds feed into a true dual exhaust that exits through the rear valance. That power is routed through a tried-and-true Borg Warner T10 four-speed manual transmission before being sent out to the rear wheels, where fifteen-inch Rallye wheels with center caps and beauty rings are shod in 205/75R-15 Redline rubber.

  HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Manual Convertible Top
 • Full Sebring Silver Repaint
 • 350 CID V8
 • Edelbrock 4 BBL
 • Edelbrock Intake
 • Dual Exhaust
 • Borg Warner T10 Four Speed
 • Independent Rear Suspension
 • Rallye Wheels
 • Redline Tires
 • Stock Style Interior
 • Dark Blue Vinyl
 • Wood Rimmed Steering Wheel
 • AM/FM Stereo
 • Heat
 • Defrost

For the first time in Corvette history, this 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible rides on a fully independent suspension at both the front and rear. Drum brakes are employed at all four corners to scrub off speed whenever called upon. If you have not yet experienced the exhilaration of driving a droptop C2 down the open road, then this is your chance to find out why so many believe this iteration of the Corvette may just be the best one yet. Don't wait, call today!

      <description>1963 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible

For consignment, a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette convertible with a white canvas top, a black interior, and a 4-speed manual transmission.  Side pipes and knock-off wheels add to the classic status of the legendary C2.

  Exterior
Little Red Corvette is not just a great song, it's a great presentation when it's the real thing!  And this one presents with two stage Riverside Red coverage and if cars with red paint get more tickets, we'd be willing to take one for the team in this stunner.  Simulated aluminum air intakes are mounted on the hood flanking the raised spear, and these would wave goodbye for the 1964 model making it unique for '63.  But 63 and 64 share the fender vent configuration, two vertical depressions in the fiberglass that suggest forward movement.  While on the side, let's note the epic side pipes with the vented cover that aims to dissipate heat, but also absorbs it, so watch those calves!  15-inch wheels with knock offs are the perfect complement to the profile which bookends with pointed ends and chrome bumpers.  The white canvas top is in great shape and its rear plastic window is crystal clear.  Paint, metalwork, and emblems are all in excellent condition and we could not find any glaring exterior flaws.

  Interior
Hockey stick trim separates the grain material from a pleated pattern to one that is smooth, and the 80/20 configuration includes a carpeted bottom.  There's a bit of wear and patina on the driver's side, especially where cracks in the armrest are evident.  Step over the aluminum plate on the sill to find low back black leather bucket seats with the driver's seat showing some compression, but no wear marks or tears.  The passenger seat looks good and could benefit from a deep detailing to clean and condition the leather.  A honey colored wood steering wheel fronts the eyebrow shaped dash with six symmetrically placed gauges and an extra temp gauge mounted below the dashboard.  The center stack, which is formed by the inside curves of the eyebrow sides contains a clock, vent knobs, and a vertically mounted AM/FM/Cassette radio with knobs.  The passenger's eyebrow is an arching glove box with the distinctive Corvette Sting Ray insignia.  A white knobbed Hurst shifter rises from the plastic base of the center console, all surrounded by black loop carpet which continues in the back cargo area in fair condition.

  Drivetrain
The underside of the hood shows some bubbling of its black coating and in the bay, we find a period-correct 327ci V8, the standard engine for 1963, topped by an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and intake manifold.  A T10 4-speed manual transmission is underfoot and sends power to the rear wheels with 3.70 gears and Positraction.  Drum brakes remain and are found on all four wheels.

  Undercarriage
Surface rust, oil on the pan, some road dirt, and grease on the steering knuckles, all signs of a driver quality underside and proof this car has been enjoyed.  The dual exhaust head immediately sideways into the side pipes and suspension consists of coil springs up front and transverse leaf springs with tubular axle driveshafts in the back, making both sides independent.

  Drive-Ability
It's never a bad day behind the wheel of a C2 Corvette drop top.  As we circle our test loop for a lap or two, we have some positive reports and some things that will need attention.  Let's start with the non functional items operated from inside the car which includes the clock, the odometer, the turn signals, and the left headlight does not rotate up.  All other functions such as gauges, lights, horn, etc. work as intended.  While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.  There seems to be a miss in the engine at higher RPMs, and we found it difficult to downshift from 3rd to 2nd.

This red 1963 Corvette has hints of patina throughout and a few issues noted above, but it also has amazing, classic, and quite collectible bones and fantastic paint.  It might not be a concours contender yet, but it's a wonderful start and guaranteed eye candy on wheels.
