Those fenders arch over 15-inch Chevrolet Rally wheels, the fronts giving way to the epic fender vent. Flying buttresses flank the rear window like tailfins while the nose of the car comes to a point, like a shark, and places the grille behind the bumperettes. Polished components include the side mirrors, window trim, and flush handles perches on the tops side of the doors. Imperfections range from numerous chips throughout to cracked edges, scratches, scuffs, cracked paint throughout, and areas of discoloration, touch up or general dullness. A mirror is missing and the rubber bumperettes are losing their black coating. The chin is damaged and shows exposed fiberglass and there are cracked pieces in other places. Interior Dark Firethorn is the name used for red interiors for this era Corvette and that's what we have, beginning on the door panels which include a woodgrain insert and show some loose vinyl in places, but otherwise clean. Both bucket seats show their age with some wear and discoloration and the center armrest has seen better days. There's a patina on the red steering wheel and the dash which has cracking on the horizontal surface. The center stack houses a series of gauges and a Kenwood AM/FM/Cassette player is squeezed into the space. The center console and shifter are consistent with the car's overall presentation and the red carpet below and in the cargo space is faded and discolored. Drivetrain Under the hood is a driver quality 350ci V8 with a 4-barrel carburetor. It's mated to the numbers matching TH350 3-speed automatic transmission that routes power to the rear axle with 3.08 gears and Positraction Undercarriage We have driver quality conditions underneath as well with a good amount of patina and surface rust and some gunk build up. Power disc brakes are found at all four corners and the dual exhaust flows through stock style mufflers before giving way to short tailpipes. There's pitted surface rust on the exhaust and the mufflers and there is no catalytic converter on board. Suspension includes coil springs up front and Corvette's complex system of a frame mounted differential, tubular axle drive shafts, transverse strut rods, torque control arms, and transverse leaf springs in back. Drive-Ability The Vette scoots onto the test loop with some old gas in the tank, according to our consignor, and it shows with repeated stalling and a slightly rough idle. It provides good handling and decent braking. We note some things that will need attention including inoperable items such as the horn, heater blower, tachometer, radio, AC, and driver's power window. You probably guessed by now the headlights will not rotate down. Outside of these items, the rest functioned as intended. That's hammered home by the 15-inch Weld DragLite wheels on board with tires that are no older than six years, slightly staggered in width and drag radials in back. The wing has sidewalls that in effect, continue the work of the flying buttresses to funnel air rearward while still allowing full view from the vertical rear window. Solid red tail lights add some flair, while rocker trim dresses the bottom edge. Imperfections include orange peel paint, chips, and bent front wheels. Interior Standard black vinyl door panels lead to black, gray, and red cloth racing seats with red racing harnesses on each, and the seats show some age but are fully intact ahead of a gutted rear section that houses the battery. A GT steering wheel fronts a dash with standard speedometer, an added tachometer, and cut in lights with plenty of patina to go round. A custom burnt orange center stack has a series of white face Sunpro gauges and an AM/FM/CD player ahead of the B&M shifter and hand labeled toggle switches. There's some gray floor coverings and no headliner on the T-tops above.  Drivetrain The heart of the matter is a good looking 355ci V8 with Eagle rods, a Scat crank, AFR heads and a 4-barrel Edelbrock carburetor atop a high rise intake. It's mated to a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission that routes power to the rear axle with 3.70 gears and Positraction.  Undercarriage We find dry driver quality conditions underneath with some typical surface rust and some custom cutouts along with dual exhaust that originate at headers and run through Flow FX by FlowMaster mufflers and terminate behind the rear bumper. There are no catalytic converters on board. Power disc brakes are supplied to all four corners and suspension consists of coil springs in front and transverse leaf springs in back with half shafts, lateral struts and control arms.  Drive-Ability We strap in, pump the gas, and crank the V8 to life and it bellows its way onto the test loop with some obvious power underfoot, straight tracking, and smooth, automatic shifting. A few things are not working on the car and that includes the headlights that won't roll up, the horn, tail lights, turn signals, brake lights and power passenger window. Beyond those things, functions needed to get from A to B and monitor engine conditions while cranking some tunes, all work as intended. Due to modifications of the emissions control devices installed by the manufacturer, please check your local, state, and federal laws to determine if this vehicle is applicable for use on public highways in your area.*   Exterior Deep end of the pool, very nice Silver Metallic coats pristine fiberglass and neoprene on this garage kept curvaceous example.  The iconic Sting Ray "gills" if you will, vent cool air into the engine bay from directly behind the front wheel wells.  Brightwork is minimal but in good condition and shows up on the door handles, front glass frame, side view mirrors and rockers, which appears as a wide strip and is the next best thing to having side pipes.  The long long hood leads the way and it sports hidden headlights, as well as a rear vented scoop.  The roof panels are removable and in lieu of being smoked, they are body matching silver.  You gotta love the flying buttress-esque B pillars framing the near vertical rear glass and we also note the rounded rear look with the circular tail lights are iconic in their design almost expected in a Corvette.  15-inch GM rally wheels with Dixie coupe shaped ribbed center hubs and deep dish trim rings are wrapped by 225/60R15's all around.  Interior Some smoke gray and wood appliqué along with minimal chrome trimmings cover the door panels.  Sleek thin styled high backed leather buckets show some very slight folds, as leather tends to do with age, however these are in fine condition.  The center console has a nicely padded leather armrest/storage lid, and this drives the eye forward to the shift lever lighter and temp wheels.  The deep set gauges in the swooping upward and outward dash are original, and appear as very clean.  Next to this driver's panel is a group of 5 instruments to help keep the pulse, and just below the center dash of this car is a C O R V E T T E  AM/FM radio.  Behind the seats is the rear storage area folded in clean gray carpeting, as are all the floors where the seats are and under the dash.  I have to comment on all the chromed surrounds, lettering on dials and levers and all over, I see none of it is chipped off.  This is a rare detail not often experienced on these cars of this year, so it WAS well taken care of. Drivetrain A lift forward of the scooped hood, and we see a numbers matching 350ci V8 in L48 form.  It has a 4-barrel carburetor feeding it and a numbers matching TH350 3-speed automatic transmission on back.  A 3.08 Positraction rear axle is on spinning the rear tires.  The condition, as our consignor states, is unmolested, unrestored and all original...a real breath of fresh air.  (Which it mixes with the fossils and kicks you in the butt!) Undercarriage A surface rust only underside that has good structural stability, a stainless X pipe exhaust with headers and Pypes Mufflers.  Power disk braking is all around and the fully independent C3 suspension provides the ride and rail like handling. Drive-Ability The car started right up, and ran well.  Good handling, and nice overall ride with power steering and power brakes.  When you go full throttle, you notice a nice kick in your pants, as well as a smile on your face!  During our drive we noted that the headlights would not rotate up and the AC has been removed.
