<description>1935 Chevrolet EC Standard 2 Door Sedan

"The '35 Chevrolet Standard is an interesting case on several counts. Introduced in mid 1933 as the Standard Mercury line, Chevrolet's price leader junior series, (Model EC), was a totally different car than the top of the line Master DeLuxe, (Models ED and EA), in 1935. The Standard sported a shorter wheelbase, 107 inches versus 113, and a little less power from the 206.8ci stovebolt six, getting along with 74hp while the Master DeLuxe was rated at 80hp." Macmotorcitygarage.com

For consignment, a 1935 Chevrolet EC standard 2 door sedan showing 12,200 miles, but the true miles are unknown. This steel bodied street rod version is packing a 454ci V8, a wild paint job, and a clean interior.

  Exterior
The stand out hood features a background single stage cream paint hosting very nice yellow to orange flames that reach all the way to the cowl and the drama continues as that cream is sent in band of color to encircle the cabin, bordered by orange and cutting through the red, adding enormous visual interest. As a street rod, the car hunkers down on Chevrolet Rally wheels, 14-inch in front and 15-inch in back, with a slightly raked stance and arching fenders connected by a wide running board. The rounded roof hovers over tinted windows and the rear deck has mock bullet holes suited for a moonshiner if this car was just a few years older! A fantastic, ornate grille fronts the car between red dot LED headlights, the metalwork and paint being in great shape. Imperfections include some cracked paint in a body bend, scratches, touched up blemishes, light roughness on the decklid, bubbling, chips, and a cracked window.

  Interior
The design is carried to the interior where red tweed door panels feature a cream stripe bordered in orange, continuing on the rear side wall and transferred onto the front floor mat. The seats appear to be mid late century versions with tweed front surfaces and vinyl sides, buckets in front and bench in back. A sporty black steering wheel fronts the red painted dash with instrument cluster centrally located and housing a myriad of Stewart Warner black faced gauges with matching red needles. On the floor, a Lokar shifter extends up to the driver with dark red carpet cleanly covering the floor and a ribbed headliner presenting a bit of flair over our heads.

  Drivetrain
An aluminum plated firewall reflects the 454ci V8 under the hood with Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor over and Edelbrock intake. A TH350 3-speed automatic transmission is behind it, sending power to the 10 bolt rear. Headers begin the exhaust process and the car runs on a 12 volt system. Plenty of polished parts in the engine compartment make this one show worthy.

  Undercarriage
Some surface rust and a few drops of oil show up on the underside which is otherwise driver quality and clean. FlowMaster mufflers accompany the dual exhaust on their way to a rear exit and brakes are configured as front disc and rear drum. Leaf springs are employed front and rear as the main suspension components.

  Drive-Ability
The cabin is comfortable up front and from the looks of things, cozy and comfortable in back as well. The 454 comes to life without hesitation and emits a proper roar as we roll the EC onto the test loop where power is abundant, handling is quite good, and braking is on point. The tires are nearly 30 years old so we're not going crazy to test speed and agility, but we do find that all systems on board operate as they should and with a fresh set of tires, this red flyer will be ready to rock. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

Although more than 42,000 EC Standard Sedans were made in 1935, this is only the second one we've represented and this is likely a rare model in the street rod world as well. This is a nice build with a big engine and room for four. The flames on the hood set it apart in addition to the model and what you have here is a unique, turnkey show car and cruiser.

<description>*We realize this is not a Chevy, but it is similar and someone looking for a street rod might have an interest but not search Graham Paige*
1935 Graham Paige Sedan
The Graham brothers started their success with a glass manufacturing company that was eventually sold to Libbey Owens Ford, a company that would create the enclosure for the Declaration of Independence. In 1919 they created a kit that could covert Ford Model T's into trucks and at the time they were using various engines but primarily Dodge's. They then started building trucks for Dodge dealers and were eventually purchased in 1925 at which time they took executive positions with Dodge. Fast forward a little bit and Chrysler came into the picture at which time the brothers decided to set off on their own. They purchased the Paige-Detroit Motor Car Company and thus the Graham-Paige brand was born. They created most of their own bodies/engines and developed a reputation for quality. Sales quickly rose and while they withstood the onset of the depression, sales eventually fell as time went on. Interestingly the Graham brothers developed a crankshaft driven supercharger all the way back in 1934 and it wasn't until the 90's that they were surpassed as being the largest producer of supercharged cars. That is pretty impressive considering that it has been since 1947 that the Graham-Paige name was purchased by Kaiser-Frazer. This Graham Paige sedan has been transformed into a really nice street rod and is incredibly unique. You can be pretty much guaranteed that you will be the only one pulling up to the car show in one of these cars. It is unknown how many were ever made but the amount still around has to be very small. This all steel car was originally built in California and the current owner purchased it in 2009. It is painted a very nice Black Cherry paint that has a beautiful finish. The car has rear suicide doors which are a very cool factory option. It no longer has it's stock bumpers but the stainless that is in place has a very nice shine. The glass is in good condition throughout and is tinted. The car has a great stance and sits on a set of American Racing Torq Thrust wheels (15 in front, 17 in rear). It also has taller tires in the back to give it a slight rake in the side profile.
Under the hood the car is now powered by a crate 454 V8 motor that has right around 28,500 miles on it. The engine runs strong and has plenty of power. It has been nicely dressed up with chrome accents and is also fitted with an Edelbrock Thunder series 650 cfm carb with electric choke and a more modern R134 AC compressor. The car has had multiple upgrades including power assisted front disc brakes and a Mustang II style front end. It comes with some receipts and a full breakdown outlining everything that was redone in the build. It is clear not a single component was left untouched. The car runs cool thanks to its electric fan and new custom radiator that was installed in 2017. The rest of the drivetrain includes the Turbo 400 automatic transmission that sends power back to the Ford 9 inch rear. This is a very nicely done car and set up to be one you can hop in and cruise anywhere.
Inside the car it has nice Gray upholstery with a rear bench seat and dual power adjustable bucket front seats. It is in great condition throughout. The dash is nicely painted and features custom Classic Instrument gauges in a custom bezel which is also where you will find LED gear and turn signal indicators. The shifter is located on the column which is a Flaming River tilt set up topped off by a very cool Lecarra steering wheel. The AC blows cold and is an underdash style unit with adjustable vents in both the center and sides. Being a 4 door is pretty neat because a lot of vehicles of the 30's were very cramped. This one has plenty of room and the availability of a rear seat so the whole family can go to the car show. Another very cool feature is the car has power windows but they are operated by the vintage style window cranks. The powered rear trunk lid is easily operated by a remote control with included key chain fob and the trunk is all nicely carpeted.
This is an extremely unique car because not only is it a rare manufacturer but it has been set up to be an excellent driver. Chances of finding another one is pretty slim so if you want to stand out from all the Fords/Chevys at the show you should scoop this one up while it is still available.

<description>1935 Chevrolet EC Standard 2 Door Sedan #112

The '35 Chevrolet Standard is an interesting case on several counts. Introduced in mid-1933 as the Standard Mercury line, Chevrolet's price-leader junior series, (Model EC), was a totally different car than the top-of-the-line Master De Luxe, (Models ED and EA), in 1935. The Standard sported a shorter wheelbase, 107 inches versus 113, and a little less power from the 206.8 CID stovebolt six, getting along with 74 hp while the Master De Luxe was rated at 80 hp. Also, Master De Luxe models were available with GM's Knee-Action independent front suspension, (Model EA), while the Standard used a plain beam axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs in front.  The Standard for '35 also employed totally different sheet metal, the Master De Luxe series grew larger and more rounded and swollen that year, following the industry trends of the moment along with stablemates Pontiac and Oldsmobile. The Master De Luxe also adopted GM's all-steel, "Turret Top" roof and body construction. The Chevrolet Standard line, in contrast, was lean, trim, and athletic in design, almost Ford-like, (in a manner of speaking). It's a classic look that holds up very well today.

For consignment, this nice barn find Chevrolet Standard.  This 2-door mid 1930's design with a slightly shorter body, canvas top, cowled hood, running boards and early design, it's truly a gangster car.  Black paint for the body and for the fenders and running boards, it's got a nice patina and steel spoked wheels.

NO TITLE-SOLD ON A BILL OF SALE ONLY

  Exterior
Coming to you in barn find condition, this exterior, while presenting with some chipping, staining, dulling, and surface rust showing through, there is no visible invasive rust to note.  The running boards are losing their rubber covering and the fenders both front and rear are intact and retain their wonderful French curve design.  2 doors are seen on this sedan and display with simplistic door handles in pitted chrome on the exterior.  Up front, the once chromed grille is now presenting in need of restoration with the chrome dulling, rusted and pitted.  Single headlights flank the grille and are attached with a post that mounts to the front fenders and grille surround.  Also, simple bumpers are seen on the front and rear of this car, both needing rechroming.  The long cowled hood sports a trio of vent louvers on either side covering the unrestored engine bay, and butts up to the radiator cover up front.  The roof is a canvas panel and is cracking from age but has not pulled away from the steel substructure.  Black steel 17-inch wire wheels are all around and are wrapped in thin rubber tires which have good tread but are showing dry rot in the sidewalls.

  Interior
In need of restoration with soiled and stained pale green broadcloth coverings making up the door panels, sagging headliner, and wrap around rear panel.  Buckets are noted for the front and a bench for the rear, with the buckets covered in off white decorative slipcovers and the bench wearing a Mexican blanket.  We do not know the condition of the underlying material, but their original shape is still retained.  Factory brown mohair is on for the rear side panels, and provides a contrast to the pale green.  Up front is the original unrestored dash in black and a centrally located trio of gauges and various pull knobs.  A black Bakelite steering wheel fronts the dash and for the floors the carpet is gone exposing the mixture of wood and steel supports that make up the flooring.

  Drivetrain
A black inline 6-cylinder engine is within the engine bay under the cowled hood with patina and surface rust, mainly confined to the oil bath air cleaner.  This "Stovebolt" weighs in at 206.8 cubes and it has a single 1-barrel carburetor on the side and a 3-speed manual transmission is attached to the back.  Bringing up the back is a 4.11 geared rear axle.

  Undercarriage
Unfortunately this car was not put up on our lift, so much like when my wife asks where all of our money went I'll give "just the facts".  A full frame gives support to the mix of wood and steel flooring and the corners are sporting mechanical drum brakes.  Providing the ride are leaf springs for and aft, unlike the Master Deluxe which was equipped with a coil sprung independent front suspension.

  Drive-Ability
We were able to turn the engine over by hand but no attempt to start it was made.

Thanks to minimal rust though this car has excellent bones as a foundation for a restoration or street rod.  A survivor barn find project car, right out of the gangster era, with tons of Art Deco design ready, willing and able to fulfill your mid 30's dream.
