1926 Ford Model T

1926 Ford Model T Roadster

For consignment, a 1926 Ford Model T roadster showing 29,321 miles, but the true miles are unknown. This is a wild street rodded version of a T and checks all the boxes of coolness with a little bit of sinister mystery mixed in.

 Exterior
The channeling on this ride takes hot rodding to a new level and that level is low, low, low! The overall palette is a smoky black beginning with the primer black body, the 15-inch black wheels, and from the headlight to the firewall, it looks like it drove through a wall of soot. Turn toward the face however, and we find a bronze stamped grille, bronze headlight rings, and a bronze firewall and it shows up on the interior as we'll find out soon. In back, the round tail lights are also trimmed in bronze while the frame around the upright windscreen remains matte black. There are few chips in the primer but overall, the exterior presents nicely.

 Interior
Door cards display simulated diamond stitching in black snake skin vinyl with bronze hardware to keep it secure. Do you see where this is going? This same material lines the black bucket seats that lean against a bronze colored back wall with purposeful patina and a few holes. Wood dominates the interior covering the floor and serving as the dash which houses two white face Haneline gauges and it's a tidy and clean presentation. A Lokar shifter rises from the transmission tunnel with a bronze flange holding it down and then we have real bronze cover to the driveshaft between the seats. The trunk carries the gas tank and battery.

 Drivetrain
Up front is a 307ci V8 from 1969, wearing an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor under a black air intake with a bronze pinstripe. Headers travel a short distance under black valve covers to their termination of outward directed tips. Red ignition wires pop with color on the engine which is backed by a 2-speed Powerglide automatic that routes power to the 10 bolt rear axle.

 Undercarriage
Clean conditions prevail underneath where the brake system features new front discs and new rear shoes. Suspension consists of a transverse leaf spring up front and coil springs with ladder bars in back. We note that the tires have a late 2020 date code.

Drive-Ability
You're out in the open, so there's no A/C and based on the blare of the engine when we bring it to life, the absence of a radio is not a surprise. Then, we move the tall shifter to Drive and roll this low buggy onto the test loop where it provides satisfying acceleration, straight tracking, and ground gripping handling helped by the uber low center of gravity. We note the brake lights are not working and the driveshaft is rubbing on the floor which can be visually observed from inside the trunk. Beyond these things, all functions operate as intended and we slide this roadster back to the mall. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

Our first thought is that this is surely a bucket of fun, a T-bucket, that is! It's a cross between an amusement park ride and a serious street machine with minimalist construction and a mean looking V8 exposed to the world. If you want to make a dramatic arrival at the next car show or cruise in, look no further than this rod based on a 99 year old car.

1926 Ford Model T Runabout

For consignment and gracing the South mallway of our Hallowed Halls, a Model T Runabout right out of 1926. Always stored in a climate controlled showroom as part of a collection, electric start equipped, and fold down vinyl roofing we have a sure fire winner once you figure out the pedal arrangement and controls. The beneficiary of a restoration has left us with a nicely done, great driving example of the "new" for 1926 Model T still in original Henry steel.

 Exterior
All standard issue Model T with black accenting on the radiator, Motometer and chrome headlight rings greets us at first glance. We note the lack of headlamp tie bar, an accessory added during early 1926 model production to stiffen up the fenders and headlamps. A simple black doghouse style center hinged hood is flanked by black flowing fenders over the front wheels and down to running boards. A simple body tub carries the black theme and is covered with a black vinyl top sans any rips or wear. This top can be easily folded by 2 people to enjoy the fresh air or left up for inclement weather. A sloping trunk is on the back and opens to reveal a simple metal stowage area. The gaps are well minded and nary a hint of rust is seen on this well presenting body and nice paint application. Cleanly finished red 21-inch wire spoke wheels with like new Firestone 4.40/4.50-21 tires adorn the 4 corners. A Ford logo is carried on the jacketed spare tire attached on the rear and finishes off our exterior tour nicely.

 Interior
Swinging open the passenger's door, (trust me, it's much easier to enter from this side), and we are met with lightly textured basic black vinyl door panels with a simple black steel actuator. A fat black rimmed 4 spoke steering wheel with timing and throttle controls sits atop the column in front is a full metal jacket black steel dash. A simple, spartan design with only an ampere gauge to monitor on this dash and a simple combination headlight and ignition switch, and chrome courtesy light. Providing the seating is a black vinyl bench seat finished with a buttoned tuck and roll pattern and looking just fab. A simple black vinyl Ford logoed floor mat covers the wooden floors and wraps up our interior tour.

 Drivetrain
Lifting either side of the center hinged hood allows us to view the rebuilt 177ci 4-cylinder mill. Based on the serial number this engine was built in February of 1926 and very well may be the original engine. It is fed by a 1-barrel carburetor on the side and on the back is a 2-speed planetary transmission that actually works as the foot brake also. A 3.63 geared rear axle puts the power to the ground.

 Undercarriage
Solid black steel makes up the frame and supports black body hangers with just a few spots of surface rust due to chip offs on the underside of the fenders and running boards. A mix of black steel and wood makes up the flooring and is in good shape. Transverse leaf springs provide the suspension front and rear and rear mechanical drum brakes are on. A stock style single exhaust system handles the removal of spent fossils. All looking good and original down below.

 Drive-Ability
After years of storage this vehicle will need servicing before being driven. We are however, happy to report the engine does indeed turn over by hand and with the electric starter. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

A well done Model T Runabout, all buttoned up and ready to show, drive in parades or even compete in a brass era tour if the mood struck you. Swing on by our Hallowed Halls and prepare for your own Runabout tour.

1926 Ford Model T Tudor Sedan

For consignment a 1926 Ford Model T Tudor sedan. This tall brass era chunk of history is configured to take at least 5 passengers comfortably to their destination. It is in barn find condition, comes in a wonderful shade of dark green and is a piece of automotive history. While you may have heard that you could have a Model T in any color so long as it was black, nothing could be further from the truth. Red and gray were used prior to June 1909, green was used from prior to June 1909 through 1910 and blue was used from 1911 until very early 1913. Starting in 1913 and continuing until 1926 black was the only color option, then come 1926 a whole host of new colors became available. Talk about history getting muddled throughout the ages...

NO TITLE-SOLD ON A BILL OF SALE ONLY

 Exterior
As a not often seen Tudor sedan we see a bit of a higher stance. Also, as was mentioned earlier, a new color palette was available for the 1926 model year, and this car is in green with black fenders and fillers! A real change from what is normally seen on a Model T, a closed cockpit is seen with a visored and vinyl covered roof, as metal working technology was not able to create such a large piece of flat steel at the time. This is a 2-door version with clear glass encompassing the cabin to let your passengers breathe in the sights, all the while being sheltered from the weather. The body is fairly rust free and has a satin finish of patina and age throughout. Simple black curvy fenders frame wood 30-inch spoked wheels with a natural grain finish. A few chip offs are noted in the finish along with cracking body work on the lower panels. The running boards are solid and on the front rusted and tarnished chrome bezels hold the tie-bar equipped head lighting in front of the twin barred bumper and silver radiator corral. Out back, a single tail light hovers atop the driver's rear fender and a spare tire rests just behind the tarnished twin bar rear bumper.

 Interior
A swing of the door allows us to climb aboard and reveals 2 deeply tufted and padded cloth covered front bucket seats. These show some wear and moth damage in various locations throughout. A matching bench stretches across the back of the car, meeting up with the gray/brown broadcloth inner rear panels The green steel dash in very steampunk styling has oversized round black faced instruments with a tarnished chrome bezel and single knobs and dials as well as the steering wheel which is big and original rising towards the driver. Wood planks are making up the floor and are somewhat loose. Caressing the sides of the front buckets are material and color matching door panels with shiny chrome cranks. These panels have succumbed to heavy moth damage and will need replaced. The Model T pedal setup is there for you to figure out!

 Drivetrain
Under the hood is a 177ci inline 4-cylinder engine which is unrestored. A fine covering of surface rust and plenty of patina can be seen throughout the bay. A 1-barrel carburetor feeds this small mill and on the back is a 2-speed planetary transmission that sends power to the 3.64 geared rear axle.

 Undercarriage
Showing some areas of surface rust, black paint and wood flooring, the undercarriage remains solid and structurally sound. Road dirt and slight surface rust are noted on the underside of the running boards and inside of fenders. Seen for the suspension are transverse leaf springs and mechanical drum brakes for the rear only.

 Drive-Ability
As with many barn find vehicles, a healthy amount of work is needed to bring the mechanicals back to life and this example fits that category. With everything appearing complete and in its proper places things are looking good, however we made no attempt to start this Flivver. That said, we can tell you the engine turns over by hand from the front crank and with the transmission engaged the car will move while cranking and makes compression.

A mostly rust free, structurally sound example, this barn find will need some TLC but when finished you will own a piece of early automotive history and be able to see just how indestructible these cars were built in these simpler times.
