<description>1955 Ford Thunderbird with a Tremac 5 speed manual transmission. This car in not a rust bucket, floors and body mounts are very solid. Never any rust. Paint is fine for a driver but to be a show car it would need paint. Car has hardtop only. Runs and drives excellent. Engine is a 292 converted to 12 volts with alternator and new battery. All gauges work which include new autometer tach, clock, fuel temp and oil pressure. Turn signals work and cancel as they should. Tires are wide white Cokers. Front disc brakes. <link>https://hotrodhotline.com/forsale/vehicles/ford/thunderbird/1955/listing/248544</link>
<description>1955 Tbird solid rust-free in exceptional overall condition. It has Power Steering, Power Brakes &amp; Power Windows, 292-V8, Automatic transmission with both tops. Soft top is stayfast black cotton and is new. Hard top is white and in good condition (see photo). In his ownership he had the car professionally repainted its original color in 2-stage base/clear and its literally a strong 9 out of 10 for its merits (I'd say it's a 10, but the perfect paint job doesn't exist). The paint IS a mile deep for its quality. He also added vintage air which works great and is ice-cold. The car starts easily and runs well but has not been driven in about a year following his stroke. He was in the process of replacing the right power window regulator with new rollers etc. and for those reasons had the passenger side door trim apart. He bought new door weatherstrips for it as depicted on the front seat. A pricey new brake booster was installed, but he was unable to get the brakes bled after the fact with his limitations at home. The windshield is new. The red/white interior is exceptional in all respects. Carpet under the mats is in great shape. Both only need minor detailing to be great. Note the Lucas Headlights which offer a nice look. The tires are about 4 or 5 years old. This is a VERY well done car. Great chrome. 43k original miles. The owner has been the 'go-to-guy' in our area for mechanical repairs for owners in car clubs and known for his beautiful cars----------of which this Tbird is his last. This will be an exceptional car for the next owner. <link>https://hotrodhotline.com/forsale/vehicles/ford/thunderbird/1955/listing/243890</link>
<description>Immaculate 1955 Thunderbird. Built on last day of 1955 production year. Might be last 1955 built, but cannot confirm. Have original factory invoice/window sticker showing date of manufacture. Had one owner for 49 years. Always garaged and always covered. Any and everything this car ever needed has been supplied. Have stack of receipts over one inch high to illustrate the love. Pampered! Ford did not offer a Continental Kit until 1956 but did authorize dealers to install them on the 1955 as Ford did not want to make changes to their assembly line during the 1955 model year. This is a rare factory approved Continental Kit for a 1955. New Coker tires were installed. These are radial tires that were specially engineered to look like the bias-ply tires of that era. Has both hard top and soft top. Hard top comes off and on very easily and soft top is permanent behind seats. Brand new black soft top, see pics. V-8 engine with 4spd manual transmission. Everything smooth running and shifting. No mechanical issues. Ford used a 6-volt electrical system in 1955. This one upgraded to 12 volt. New battery four months ago. Adjustable steering wheel. From childhood, I had always wanted a red 1955 Thunderbird. That dream came true. <title>1955 Ford Thunderbird</title>
      <link>https://hotrodhotline.com/forsale/vehicles/ford/thunderbird/1955/listing/236855</link>
      <description>1955 Ford Thunderbird Convertible

For consignment, a 1955 Ford Thunderbird showing 34,640 miles, but the true miles are unknown. This is a two top car with power steering, power brakes and working air conditioning!

  Exterior
Bright and cheerful Goldenrod Yellow covers this car with a spectacular combination of wide white wall tires acting as a visual connection to the Snowshoe White accessory hardtop. But hand it over to the tires for creating that same visual synergy with the black canvas soft top and what we have is a well coordinated and elegant sports car with full wheel covers that gleam as they spin. Ford shared the browed single headlights and rounded tail lights with others in the line up during the '50's, but it hits differently on the Thunderbird thanks to narrow panels, a straight shoulder line, and aeronautical references like the torpedo shaped bumper guards in front and the tailpipe exit through similar unites on the back bumper. Epic! Overall paint and trim are great. Imperfections include a red stain on a fin, chipped paint, scratches at the hardtop mounting flanges, a touched up ding on the front, chips near the gravel guard on the fender skirt, cracked filler under a tail light and fender, cracks and touch up near the front bumper, and numerous tears on the soft top.

  Interior
Yellow and black fill the inside beginning on the door panels and two tone seats, all presenting in very good condition. The ribbed steering wheel fronts the arching speedometer and accompanying gauge and clock and the spun aluminum mid panel holds knobs, an AM/FM radio, and vent controls with an A/C unit under the dash. We have a fitted dash cover and underneath, the dash pad is in good shape and so is the black twist carpet on the floor interrupted by the chrome based shifter on the center hump. The trunk is lined with black carpet as well and houses a spare.

  Drivetrain
Even the Thunderbird emblem on the finned valve covers is not spared the turquoise color in this earliest of Thunderbird engines, a 292ci V8, rated at 198 horsepower and fueled using a 4-barrel carburetor. Behind it, a Ford-O-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission that routes power to a Dana 44 in back with 3.31 gears. The bay presents in clean driver quality condition.

  Undercarriage
Clean and driver quality here too with minimal surface rust, mostly dry conditions, and some grease sling from the rear U-joint. Power drum brakes back all four of the yellow painted steel wheels and dual exhaust runs through stock style mufflers before entering the back of the ornamental ports. Suspension consists of coil springs up front and leaf springs in the back.

  Drive-Ability
We pump the gas once or twice and turn the key and the V8 fires up without complaint as we roll this yellow bird onto the test loop where the well rounded car does everything well, from acceleration and tracking, to turning and stopping. The four way power seat is down to two as we note the up and down function does not work, but all other operations in and around the car work as they should and we head back to the mall to find this canary colored Ford a place to perch. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

While some birds are endangered species, the Ford Thunderbird is not one of them and Classic Auto Mall has represented dozens over the years with a majority finding new homes, exciting new owners, and wowing crowds in different regions. We don't know where this yellow beauty will end up, but it's sure to excite birdwatchers and non birdwatchers wherever it happens to land!

Classic Auto Mall is home to more than 1,000 classic and collectible vehicles for sale via consignment in a climate controlled 336,000-square foot showroom (that's more than 8 acres!). The largest single location consignment dealer of classic and collectible vehicles in the country is located in Morgantown, Pennsylvania, just 1-hour west of Philadelphia off Exit 298 of the I-76 Pennsylvania Turnpike. For more information visit www.classicautomall.com or call us at (888) 227-0914. Contact us anytime for more information or to come see the vehicle in person. There is no guarantee of mileage. <title>1955 Ford Thunderbird</title>
      <link>https://hotrodhotline.com/forsale/vehicles/ford/thunderbird/1955/listing/236709</link>
      <description>1955 Ford Thunderbird Roadster

For consignment, a 1955 Ford Thunderbird convertible with a title verified 54,297 actual miles. Not only did the car grace the cover of a prominent Jersey Shore magazine, but it's been photographed with a number of notable celebrities including Mickey Rooney, Soupy Sales, and numerous Miss Americas. Our consignor took meticulous notes regarding the car's care including recording each gas fill up!

  Exterior
As if the shape is not iconic enough to turn heads, the Goldenrod Yellow certainly will as it embraces the curvature of this classic roadster, from the round topped front fenders to the narrow fins out back with very few flaws as we'll see. In profile, with the newer black canvas top stowed, it's the perfect parade car and in fact, this car is a veteran of many. The fender skirts with chrome gravel guard add an additional touch of elegance to the sporty car and partially covers the 15-inch wheel in back and they're all yellow painted steel wheels with the proper, polished wheel covers. The windshield frame is also polished, and the glass itself is almost jet fighter in its degree of curve, while the tail lights were clearly inspired by the developing jet age and the bumper exit exhaust are simply epic. Imperfections are limited to a few areas of cracking paint on the front fascia along with some color mismatch between the body and the fender skirts.

  Interior
Black surrounds the spun aluminum panel that, when the doors are closed, forms a continuous band around the doors and the width of the dash. The remainder of the door panels are covered with yellow, ribbed vinyl that create a visual match to the bench seat and its yellow inserts in black padded surround, and it's all in fantastic condition. This fine status continues on the steering wheel and dash with an arching speedometer that tops out at 150 mph, while a tachometer and clock bookend the cluster, all within view of the driver. The spun metal panel takes in the AM radio and vent levers, topped by a courtesy light and the now iconic turquoise Thunderbird emblem. The black carpet is clean, the shifter shows its originality, and the trunk has a rubber mat and a yellow spare wheel occupying a good bit of real estate.

  Drivetrain
Our detailing urge is strong with this one as we have a driver quality and accessible engine under the hood. It's the 292ci V8 with a Holley 2-barrel carburetor and a horsepower rating of 198. Behind it, a 3-speed manual with overdrive sending power to the Dana 44 with 3.56 gears in back. The car retains its 6 volt operation.

  Undercarriage
We've got driver quality conditions here as well with typical patina and surface rust and some oil on the rear differential and transmission pan and a drop or two on the oil pan. From under here, the radiator appears to be newer and aluminum. Conversely, the knuckles have some grunge build up noted in other spots too. Drum brakes are at all four wheels while suspension includes coil springs up front and leaf springs in the back. The dual exhaust runs through stock style mufflers, then feeds through the X-frame, over the rear axle, and into the rear bumper which accommodates a noteworthy exit.

  Drive-Ability
The V8 comes to life without hesitation, and we note some older tires, (205/75R15), so we keep things at pedestrian speeds during which the engine proves to be a smooth runner with some obvious power underfoot. The Thunderbird tracks straight, brakes, and turns well. Of note, the heater blower, clock, radio, and right turn signal are not working and the wipers are weak. Beyond that, all functions operate as they should on this bit of 50's sunshine. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

The prized piece of our consignor's collection, this Thunderbird was much loved, nicely maintained, and reserved for special occasions such as parades, photo shoots, and car shows. Celebrity photos with the car will come with it, helping give some context to this storied example of Ford's successful Corvette fighter!

      <description>1955 Ford Thunderbird Convertible

For consignment, a 1955 Ford Thunderbird convertible showing 85,037 unverifiable miles, an early bird that comes with the revolutionary porthole hardtop. For those who remember encyclopedias, chances are if you looked up "classic car" in one, a 1955 Thunderbird with a porthole hardtop would be depicted! This has had some restoration in the past two years including paint in 2023.

  Exterior
A coat of single stage acrylic urethane was applied last year in Midnight Blue Metallic, a stunning shade of dark blue that helps accentuate the brightwork that adorns the car. The gravel guards and edge trim on the fender skirt becomes immediately apparent in contrast, as does the faux fender vent, the Thunderbird script, and the wrap-around bumpers when viewed in profile. The rear view, with its round tail lights topped with reverse lenses in a cat ear design, was utilized across the Ford line but perhaps best associated with the sleek paneled Thunderbird. Baby Birds enjoy unique exhaust portals each year and for 1955, jet plane-like cylinders mounted on the rear fender housed the tailpipes, making the car look like it could rocket down the street. These fender additions are mirrored on the front where they represent, appropriately, the front of a torpedo. 15-inch chrome wire wheels with white walls complete the truly epic styling of the original Thunderbird and the contrasting Colonial White top is fantastic. Imperfections include quite a bit of orange peel in the paint, some discoloration on the white top, some unevenness in the corner of a door gap, and some paint runs.

  Interior
Designers got it right with the exterior, and they didn't take a nap on the interior either. Bold design and materials occupy the black and white door panels with an angular and trimmed metal insert that completes what can be regarded as a work of art. The stacked materials make their way around the cabin in a coordinated feast for the eyes. We note some looseness of material on the swooping armrests, but the panels are in otherwise excellent condition. The bench for two up front is cast in black and white as well and shows some compression and usage on the driver's side in particular. A 3 spoke steering wheel front a dashboard with sunlit speedometer flanked by a round tachometer and round clock with matching red needles. An AM/FM radio occupies the middle panel along with the vent panel while the lower dash is painted to match the exterior. Black loop carpet surrounds the floor mounted shift and both show a bit of age and patina. Blue rubber Thunderbird mats cover the footwells. The trunk wears a new trunk liner.

  Drivetrain
Clean and presentable, we find a 292ci V8 under the hood, sporting a 4-barrel Holley carburetor and rated at 198 horsepower, a respectable number in 1955. A Ford-O-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission is married to the engine and sends power to a Dana 44 rear with 3.31 gears. This sporty ride is equipped with power drum brakes on all four wheels. Our consignor states that the car has new wires, spark plugs, a K&amp;amp;N filter, cap, wiring, points, and 6 volt regulator.

  Undercarriage
Surface rust and patina abound underneath where driver quality conditions prevail. There's quite a bit of grease build up on the knuckles and other steering components as well as some errant fluids scattered around. Some flaking rust is found on the inner rocker panels and body braces. The dual exhaust enters a pair of Cherrybomb mufflers before making their epic exit. Suspension consists of coil springs up front and leaf springs in the back.

  Drive-Ability
Fortunately, the seat is at a good distance for us because we find the power seat, controlled by some nifty switches on the door panel, is not working. Meanwhile, the 292 is working and pulls us onto the test loop with plenty of power, the 198 horses tempered slightly by the 3,142 pound curb weight of the car. The car handles fine, but we note a bit of extra sound coming from an exhaust leak and a miss in the engine. There's also the distinct sound of exhaust vibrating against the chassis. We would cover the sounds with the radio, but it was not working during our drive. Beyond that, all other functions including lights, instruments, and brakes worked as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

After initially only offering the Thunderbird in three colors in 1955, black, red, and a blue that was teal based, Ford introduced five other colors. But none of those colors were a medium or dark blue, so here's a uniquely colored 1955 Baby Bird with decent bones and room for improvement. And don't worry about storing that hardtop on sunny days, the car comes with the storage dolly!
