<description>1956 Ford Thunderbird with black vinyl hardtop with portholes and soft top. 312 powerglide engine with Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission. Sidekirts, beautiful car with new tires. Yellow is the rarest of colors: How many Ford Thunderbirds were made in 1956? 15,631 units Production total for 1956 was 15,631 units, the lowest of all three 2-seater Thunderbird model years. For 1956, Ford added an optional 312 cid version of the Y-Block V-8. This engine put out 260 horsepower with the manual transmission, or 225 horsepower with the Ford-O-Matic.For the 1956 model, Ford made some changes. To give more trunk space, the spare wheel was mounted outside, Continental-style; the exhausts were moved to the ends of the bumper. Air vents were added behind the front wheels to improve cabin ventilation. To improve rear-quarter visibility with the removable hardtop in place, 'porthole' windows were made available as a no-cost option. An optional 312 Y-block V8 was made available for those that wanted more performance. 1956 sales were 15,631, the lowest of all three 2-seater Thunderbird model years. These are estimated numbers: E Colonial White 24.7% A Raven Black 24.7% K Fiesta Red 15.5% L Peacock Blue 13.6% Z Thunderbird Green 9.5% J Buckskin Tan 3.3% X Navajo 2.3% Y Sunset Coral 2.2% T T-Bird Gray 2.6% M Goldenglow Yellow 1.6% The value of a 1956 Ford T-Bird with the 312 Powerglide automatic engine depends on a number of factors, including the condition of the car, the amount of restoration work that has been done, and the current market conditions. In general, these cars can be worth anywhere from $55,000 to $100,000 or more. Here are some factors that can affect the value of a 1956 Ford T-Bird with the 312 Powerglide automatic engine: A 1956 Ford T-Bird with the 312 Powerglide automatic engine, is the most desired engine. <title>1956 Ford Thunderbird</title>
      <link>https://hotrodhotline.com/forsale/vehicles/ford/thunderbird/1956/listing/246448</link>
<description>1956 Thunderbird Roadster When GI’s who fought in the European Theater of World War II returned home, they brought with them fond memories of the British two-seaters that were a common sight over there. Some even managed to buy some and have them shipped home. It was clear to Detroit that there just might be a market for an American-made version of the famed two-seater open car. The two most famous of these were the MG-TC (and the later TD) and the incredibly handsome Jaguar XK-120. Kaiser introduced the famed Kaiser-Darrin in the early 50s and Chevrolet would follow next with the legendary Corvette. Ford was not blind to Chevrolet’s new car but chose to develop a car along a different path. It was decided their car would be made of metal instead of fiberglass; that it would be powered by a V-8 engine unlike the Corvette’s Blue Flame Six”; and that it would feature roll-down windows and an optional hardtop, unlike the Corvette’s snap-on curtains. They further decided that it would, as much as possible, utilize the same tooling and parts interchangeability with the big Fords of that era. This Magnificent Example is finished in Beautiful Fiesta Red with Beautiful Red + White Interior &amp; Colonial White Hardtop. This Classic underwent a comprehensive frame off restoration including Exterior, Interior, Brightwork, Top, and Mechanics. It comes with a comprehensive complement of amenities including: Fordmatic Automatic Transmission Floor-mounted Locking Button Shift Selector Low and Drive Range Master Guide Power Steering Full instrumentation Factory Tachometer Telescopic Lifeguard Steering Wheel Fully Adjustable Directional Signals Magicaire Heating and Defrost System Signal Seeking Town and Country Radio? <description>1956 Ford Thunderbird. Original stamped seating. All are original! I am the third owner of this original not body off restoration but completely original Mint BABY BIRD! First owner bought it new in Colorado. He owned it a short while and passed away and his wife parked it covered in the garage for the majority of its 66 year old life. Second owner picked it up from them 20 years ago in Colorado and drove it twice! Once in Colorado to an auto show and once here in Salem Utah. He worked with Carrol Shelby on Kenworth Semi race trucks. This Classic is a showstopper! It is in Pristine condition! Not a restored frame off body. Inside, the interior welcomes you with a blend of comfort and vintage style. The vinyl upholstery, though not the factory color, remains in good condition with only slight wear on the bench seat. The carpet is well-preserved, and door panels show minor signs of use, maintaining a well-kept ambiance. Chrome window trim and sun visor mounts feature some pitting, adding character to the cabin. An aftermarket air conditioning system has been thoughtfully installed beneath the dashboard, enhancing comfort without compromising the classic look.

Under the hood, this Thunderbird is powered by a rebuilt 312 V8 engine paired with a Ford O-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission. <description>Please visit www.Survivor-Cars.com for additional photos, information, and a video. This vehicle is available for viewing by appointment only at our Tampa location. Please call us to schedule an appointment.

The first 2-seat Ford since 1938, the first generation Thunderbird was dubbed  "a personal car of distinction" by the big blue oval company.

Introduced a year prior, the 1956 model year saw a few changes. The spare tire was mounted outside, freeing up more trunk space, the exhaust tips were moved to the ends of the bumper, and air vents were added behind the front wheels to improve cabin ventilation. Production total for 1956 was 15,631 units, the lowest of all three 2-seater Thunderbird model years.

This small-body Thunderbird came absolutely loaded from the factory! Starting with the engine, 1956 was the first year the 312 CID Y-block V8 was available as an option, and this black beauty has it! Other features include power steering and power brakes, making it a breeze to drive! The very distinguishable "porthole" on the hardtop was another factory option that was checked on this example. Behind the seat also lies a white soft top in case you encounter some bad weather.

The exterior wears Raven Black paint and presents very well. Wire wheel covers are wrapped in white wall radials. Putting the power from the V8 to the ground is a factory 3 speed manual transmission that shifts very well. This beauty looks great with the hard

The awesome Saddle Tan interior is show quality and feels great sliding in and out of. One of the coolest features in my opinion is the transparent speedometer gauge. Something that just adds uniqueness to the Thunderbird. What appears to be the original handbook lies in the glove box and awaits the next owner to read!

      <title>1956 Ford Thunderbird</title>
      <link>https://hotrodhotline.com/forsale/vehicles/ford/thunderbird/1956/listing/218704</link>
      <description>Personal Luxury-

The first-generation Ford Thunderbird was introduced in 1955 as a response to the growing popularity of sports cars. Designed as a personal luxury vehicle, it featured a distinctive two-door hardtop design that combined elegance with performance. The first generation ran from 1955 through 1957 and established a legacy that would influence many future models. The second year Thunderbird (1956) offered many features not available on the '55 model including a 12-volt electrical system, continental tire kit, deep-dish 'safety' steering wheel, fender vents and hardtop with porthole windows (optional at no additional charge).

  Garage Kept-

This 3-owner, garage-kept '56 Thunderbird is original except for some cosmetic upgrades and the current owner states that the indicated milage (39,200) is actual. The roadster looks handsome with a lacquer respray of Raven Black (original color) done in 1992. The finish is in overall good condition with some age blemishes. Exterior accents include the continental kit, rear fender skirts and wide-white bias tires mounted on 15" standard wheels with factory pie-plate hubcaps. Seven (7) Thunderbird wire-wheel hubcaps w/clips-centers are also included. All major chrome components have been re-finished and stainless is in good condition. There is a removable 'porthole' hardtop and a soft-top.

  Black And White-

The T-Bird interior was re-upholstered in black and white vinyl (1992) and the carpeting was replaced. An 'Astra-Dial Control Panel" dash houses gauges, tachometer and clock. An aftermarket AM/FM/Cassette sound system has been installed, but the original 'Town and Country' radio has also been upgraded with new electronic components and is included. The Thunderbird is equipped with power windows and Ford designed a telescoping steering wheel for ease of entry and exit.

  P Code Y Block Bird-

According to the VIN, this 'P' code Thunderbird was factory equipped with a 312ci/4V engine rated at 225hp/324ft-lbs. The owner states that the top-end has been rebuilt and an electronic ignition was added (1996). The owner has also provided an electric 'parade fan' that is pre-wired and can easily be installed/removed. The 312/Y-block appears to be original right down to the Holley 4000 'Teapot' downdraft 4-barrel (rebuilt), over-sized oil-bath air cleaner and chrome accents. It sounds great and is backed by Ford's time-honored 3-speed Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission. The clean chassis is equipped with optional power steering and power drum brakes. The power steering pump and brake booster have been reconditioned, and many additional components are included with the car.

The first-generation Thunderbird remains a classic model, celebrated for its innovative design and contribution to the personal luxury car segment. This is a nice one!

      <description>1956 Ford Thunderbird Roadster

For consignment, a classic with all the bells and whistles, a 1956 Ford Thunderbird in Navajo Gray.  It's not a color we see often at Classic Auto Mall, so a little research revealed that only 2.3% of 1956 Thunderbirds were painted Navajo Gray.  It's not the rarest color, but it is the third least common, (behind Sunset Coral and Goldenglow Yellow).  This one's been owned by the same caretaker for 18 years and although in need of some cosmetic TLC, it has some redeeming qualities that warrant a close look.

  Exterior
Let's get this out of the way, the paint is rough.  It's cracked from stem to stern and even peeling off in many places.  While the symmetrical shapes and patterns in the cracks are interesting, the car will eventually need paint.  That said, the body is straight and provides the perfect candidate for paint restoration.  15-inch wheels present dramatically with Ford hubcaps and whitewall tires, the rear partially obscured by fender skirts.  More positives can be found in the chrome bumpers which are in decent condition as are the lenses of all lights. The body matched case for the spare tire and rear mounted Continental kit are in good condition and really add to the profile of the car.  A Raven Black hardtop sets off the gray and could also use some fresh paint, but the portholes are in place!

  Interior
The top edge of the driver's door shows a bit of patina but the rest, and the passenger door, are in great shape.  Red is the perfect complement to the gray exterior and appears on the door sandwiching a ribbed aluminum trim piece and surrounded by white vinyl panels.  The bench seat is in good condition and continues the red and white vinyl pattern found on the doors.  Red protrusions and the metal insert on the doors flow seamlessly to the dash and form a continuous design.  The beautiful dash is preceded by a red plastic steering wheel with metal horn ring.  An arching speedometer tops out at 150 mph and is flanked by two round gauges denoting RPM's and time.   An AM radio is in place and looks to be original and the vent controls with sliding knobs are situated further right.  We note some duct tape residue on the glove box but it appears its falling problem has been fixed.  A short shifter sits on the hump and the floor is covered with red loop style carpet which shows some wear.

  Drivetrain
A 312ci V8 is under the hood and was rated at 215 horsepower from the factory.  It receives fuel from a 4-barrel carburetor and garners forward momentum via a 3-speed manual transmission with overdrive sending the spin back to a Dana 44 rear with 3.92 gears.  That's good for some giddy up which is tempered by drum brakes front and rear.  The engine bay is clean and what we would call driver quality with slight patina.

  Undercarriage
Despite a coat of checked paint, the underside is remarkably clean.  It's darn near flawless under here with no surface rust save for a bit on the mufflers, very little dust, no grease or grime, and plenty of clean, shiny components.  Independent suspension in front is equipped with coil springs while leaf springs hold the tension in the back.  Dual exhaust comes off the manifold and intersects a pair of glasspack style mufflers, then exits in epic fashion through oval ports in the side of the chrome rear bumper.

  Drive-Ability
We chose "top off" for this ride and Morgantown's weather cooperated for a short jaunt around the test loop.  The car didn't disappoint with decent acceleration and handling, although we note the car tends to pull left while driving.  Beyond that, only the clock made the list of things that didn't work.  Warning: if you're going to drive this car, especially with the top off, be prepared for waves, thumbs ups, smiles, and questions.

All this car needs is paint to make it a fantastic and collectible show car.  All the bones are there, the interior, engine, and undercarriage are ready to go.  You can pick any color you want but there's something special about the Navajo Gray and being part of the 2 percenters!

      <title>1956 Ford Thunderbird</title>
      <link>https://hotrodhotline.com/forsale/vehicles/ford/thunderbird/1956/listing/210995</link>
      <description>1956 Ford Thunderbird Roadster

The Ford Thunderbirds are truly one of the most collectible cars of the 1950's. This '56 is a nice restoration and with the Continental rear bumper it is a sports car ready to go out for a classy night on the town.  A documented 104,850 miles the calculates to a mere 4K miles a year, so yes low mileage.  A hardtop means you can take it out on the town all year.

  Exterior
Bathed in Raven Black, this car has had a respray to match code A of the original.  The paint is not perfect with small areas of cracking, and some scratching and underlying rust below the rear hardtop on the trunk deck edge.  The body panels are very straight and true with good gaps.  Looking down the side of the car, the sheet metal is respectably straight, and the car shows with an overall sense of authenticity.  A mostly rust-free car from down south y'all, now finding its way east.  The porthole windowed top is in black, and when it's mounted with the body, the car is really all dressed up and ready to go out.  All chrome and brite-work show nicely, including the front egg crate and extra Dagmar adorned grille which also has a few scratches here and there when you inspect it closely, but it is good.  On the hood is a bird beak, (appropriate), shaped chromed edge hood scoop.  A Continental spare and bumper option have been affixed and also show minor wear in places.  A bald spare tire is within the tire casing.  Fender skirts are on this car and help show off the classy wide white sidewall tires with chromed flat plate hubcaps.

  Interior
Very nice and mostly original looking with a chromed circular spun pattern on the trim strip of aluminum in the center of a black sill and a white ribbed vinyl lower.  Get a load of the swooping futuristic arm rest in black.  In the stainless we see the actuator and power seat toggles and the power window toggles are below. This stainless wraps around the dash center as well where we find the knobs and pulls, ignition, climate controls, and radio.  Above is a black padded dash top and it has a crescent speedo in the center with a single round gauge flanking it on either side.  A power bench seat is seen, and it is white tuck and roll inserts with black bolsters, all clear and free of any cracks.  Sitting in front of the bench is the original shift lever in its 1956 8 ball style.  On the bottom of the dash above the black carpeting is an AC unit.  The trunk is clean and lined with original rubber patterned to fit exactly within the confines of the trunk.

  Drivetrain
A flip of the hood, and you will be met with a very clean red painted 312ci V8 topped by a single 4-barrel carburetor under a beautiful chromed pith helmet shaped air cleaner cover.  A Ford-O-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission is bolted to the back and sends power rearward to a Dana 44 3.31 geared rear axle.  The engine and bay are looking very nicely restored.

  Undercarriage
Underside is very clean, and surface rust free.  The X frame is sturdy, and no signs of any damage from the weather exist.  The bottom of doors are in good condition as well with very minor surface rust on the passenger door at the bottom.  Independent coil springs are in front and leaf springs for the back.  Power drum brakes are all around.

  Drive-Ability
Slipping inside I was in 1956 and encircled with the wrap-around glass and corresponding dash.  The car came right to life and off to the test track I went.  Here it performed very nicely, handled well and came to an abrupt stop.  I noticed the passenger window did not move, the power seat tilt function was not working and the radio did not play any tunes.

A mostly original, low mileage per year bird with turnkey attributes.  Classy black and chrome and that continental rear bumper on this small sports car is pure tuxedo.  No restoration needed, just get in and drive, and you'll have fun, fun, fun till her daddy takes the T bird away!
