Jack L. Martin Passes Away

Jack L. Martin, Sr., of Pittsboro, Indiana, died on May 11, 2016. Martin was born on May 7, 1928 in the shadows of Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He was an active participant in the auto racing world for over 60 years.
With a background in racing writing and public relations, Jack L. Martin served as the Director of Special Events & the Hall of Fame Museum at the Speedway for many years.
Martin was also a prominent member of the Society of Automotive Historians and served as an officer and president of the organization. He was also an active promoter of the Indianapolis 500 Old Timers club and handled many arrangements for the group's annual meetings.
Martin served in World War II with the U.S. Navy. He fought in both that war and the Korean Conflict.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Nan Elizabeth, who was by his side when he died. He is also survived by his brother Patrick, his son J.L. and his daughter Marilyn. He will be sadly missed by all of his family and dear friends.
