PHOTO/INTERVIEW OPPORTUNITY: Driver Valerie Thompson, North American Eagle (NAE) project manager Ed Shadle, and the NAE Team will be available for interviews and photos. Presentation of the North American Eagle™ vehicle will be conducted along with engine tests with Thompson in the cockpit.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The North American Eagle™ (NAE) team, based in Spanaway, Washington, recently joined forces with 2-time motorcycle land-speed record holder and Tacoma native Valerie Thompson. Thompson is prepared to pilot the North American Eagle™ and pursue another prestigious record to become the “World’s Fastest Female” by eclipsing Kitty O'Neil's 1976 record of 512 mph.
Thompson is a Team Owner/Professional Land Speed Motorcycle driver who has competed in the All Harley Drag Racing Association and National Hot Rod Association drag racing series.
The NAE is a 50,000 horsepower converted F-104 Lockheed Starfighter jet, once flown by the famous test pilots of the 50's & 60's. The team’s primary goal is to return the land speed record title to North America by exceeding the 763 mph. top speed set by a U.K. team in 1997.
