Richard "Froggy" Mikami's '61 Impala had an unusual nickname - "The Ant Killer."
Mikami hails from Gardena, CA, which had a very strong custom car culture in the 60's, when Mikami was growing up. He had the car from a young age, with most of the work done in '64. He had it painted in a Tangerine Orange Pearl color by Joe Andersen, and had a Black Naughahyde tuck and roll done by Russ and Bess from Compton. After the paint job, he put a '59 Imperial grill on the car and had hydraulic lifts installed by Bill Hines. The car acquired its odd moniker due to its stance, which one of Mikami's friends claimed was low enough to flatten any ants unfortunate enough to pass beneath it.
