The SEMA Action Coalition is calling all racing fans to help save the legendary Bonneville Salt Flats. The Bonneville Salt Flats is one of the most unique race venues in the world and has been for many many years.
The SEMA Action Coalition has sent out this alert concerning the Salt Flats.
Please urge government officials to start restoring Bonneville, NOW! Money appropriated by the U.S. Congress and the State of Utah to restore the Bonneville Salt Flats is in jeopardy. The U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and Utah Department of Natural Resources (DNR) have not completed the paperwork required to release the Restore Bonneville funds. The once 13-mile racetrack at Bonneville is now less than 8 miles due to salt erosion. The Restore Bonneville program will help protect the historic venue by increasing the volume of salt being pumped onto Bonneville to over 1 million tons a year. This will be accomplished by upgrading infrastructure currently used to pump around 300,000 tons a year. The land-speed racing community has worked with lawmakers, regulators, and the potash mine owner to create the program. The SAC have put together this sample email that you can personalise and send directly to legislative officials HERE.
