Event to include visit from national TV show and an Ultimate Door Prize
The 7th Annual Somernites Power Cruise on Saturday, Sept 22nd will bring together classic and performance car enthusiasts from all across Kentucky and several bordering states.
The rolling car show will feature six host cities this year; Cincinnati, Louisville, Bowling Green, Nashville, Pikeville and Chattanooga. Most locations will offer Friday night events for car owners. Somernites representatives will also be on hand at those events to answer questions about the Power Cruise.
Car owners will then gather at pre-determined rally points on Saturday morning for a brief organizational meeting before departing. Rolling out as a group, show vehicles will make their way toward the Show & Shine event in old downtown Somerset, Ky.
Cruise officials encourage anyone who would like to join the caravan of classics as they cruise thru their cities and towns, to feel free to do so. “The whole point of the Power Cruise is to get out and enjoy driving your classic car or truck.” says 2012 Somernites team President Brinkley Denney. “Sometimes it’s just good to get away from the daily grind. Driving your hot rod on the open road is a great stress reliever.” He added that participation is free and there is no need to pre-register.
Denney suggests those cruising into Somerset for the Sept show should call and book their hotel rooms in advance as finding lodgings on show day can be a challenge.
According to organizers, the Sept show has routinely been the biggest of the Somernites season in terms of participation.
The Somernites Power Cruise is sponsored by Holley Performance, a national supplier of performance parts based in Bowling Green, Ky.
Those interested in participating should visit the Power Cruise page at SomernitesCruise.com for complete details, event locations and times.
The Sept 22nd Somernites event will also welcome Speed Channel’s My Classic Car show and host Dennis Gage with his handlebar mustache, to the event. The MCC crew will be filming for an upcoming episode and seeking out interesting classic rides to feature during the broadcast. Now in its 16th season, My Classic Car is available in 80 million households and watched by 1 million viewers weekly.

Car owners have still another reason to cruise their ride into the Show & Shine this month. Every show car or truck that enters the event will receive one free chance on a drawing for the “Ultimate Door Prize”, a T-Bucket Hot Rod.
Participants and spectators can improve their chances of winning by purchasing official Somernites merchandise. For every $5 spent, one additional ticket on the T-Bucket will be given. The drawing will be held on Town Square at 6:30pm (EST) and you must be present to win.
Citizens National Bank of Somerset is the exclusive sponsor of the Ultimate Door Prize for September.
Somernites Cruise is held on the fourth weekend of each month, April thru October in historic old downtown Somerset, Ky. The Show & Shine gates open at 1PM(EST) and show concludes at 7PM. “Cruisin the Strip” continues afterward. The event is held rain or shine and admission is free to participants & spectators.
