No matter how cool your ride is and no matter how great a job you’ve  done detailing it, you’ve still got to see where you’re driving! And if your  headlights have become all yellow and cloudy, you have a real nighttime  driving safety hazard because your visibility distance can be cut by 60%  or more. Fortunately, there is headlight restoration, but which kit  should you choose?

Before Surf City Garage created its own Enthusiast Grade® Headlight Restoration Kit, we found out that many existing kits didn’t live up to their billing. We looked at all the contaminants and environmental factors – including UV rays, road salt and grime – that make today’s plastic and polycarbonate headlight lenses yellow, cloudy and faded. Then we figured out what would make the perfect kit:

• Ease of use.  There are some good kits out there but they take hours of time and lot of elbow grease.
• No sanding. Sanding definitely works but it makes it really easy to accidentally damage your headlights or, if you haven’t taped off properly, even your paint. And sanding is typically a multi-step process.
• Not a lot of extra stuff. Of course you don’t want to buy a drill every time, but outside of supplying a drill, the ideal kit should contain everything else you need. What’s the point of buying a kit that’s missing essential parts?
• Long-lasting protection. The sun’s UV rays cause your headlight covers to oxidize after the factory protectant wears off. A great kit will include a protectant so your headlights remain clear for a long time.

All you supply are the drill and a few minutes of your time. We supply:  4oz Ultra-Clear Lens Polish, 8oz Ultra-Clear Lens Protectant, a Polishing Ball, a Microfiber Towel and even a roll of masking tape to safely cover edges and gaps. After you’ve restored your headlight lenses – or if you’ve just bought your car and want to protect your new, undamaged lenses – simply use our Lens Protectant to keep them looking that way.

Using Ultra-Clear is really Ultra-Simple. Just use the masking tape we supply to tape around the headlight lens. This protects the painted surface while you’re buffing. Shake the Lens Polish vigorously every single time you use it. Attach the buffing pad in the kit to your drill and then apply a small amount of the Lens Polish to that pad. Now you’re ready to make your headlights look like new. First, press the buffing pad against the headlight lens surface and start the drill at the highest speed you’re comfortable with. Keep applying more of the Lens Polish (remembering to vigorously shake first) to the buffing pad as needed until you’ve polished the entire lens. Next, use the supplied microfiber towel to clean any remaining polish off the lens and spray the lens with a coat of the suppliedUltra-Clear® Lens Protectant. Wipe the lens dry, remove the masking tape, and you’re done literally in minutes. A special hint: You can use the Lens Protectant anytime you detail your car to ensure constant protection against damaging oxidation and environmental contaminants.
