The NorthEast Rod and Custom Nationals is coming March 22-24th
In only its 3rd year, the annual NorthEast Rod and Custom Nationals has put its mark on the indoor car show circuit. Being touted as one of the best indoor shows in the country by many, it brings out some of the best cars in the immediate region and beyond. Many top cars head to this show to vie for their change to be named one of the show’s Elite 6. That distinction comes with $2000, a custom glass trophy, and jacket. The eventual winner will take home the coveted NorthEast Cup (designed and built by Rob Ida) and an additional $8000 and a winner’s jacket!! And this is only on the Show Class!! There’s an additional $15,000 plus in cash and awards handed out in all of the show’s classes (Show, Street, Motorcycle, and Bicycle). Not only does this show pull some of the best cars, but they also have many cars that are just on display.
How about nostalgia funny cars?!? .. Cars like the Screamin Eagle, Time Bomb, Eastern Raider, Excalibur, and debuting at the show, the newly built 1969 ½ Frantic Ford Mach 1 !! Then, add in the Queen of Diamonds Jet Dragster, the Shockwave Monster Truck, Pro Mod alley featuring some fantastic door slammers and you’ve got some great special display vehicles!! Some new features this year are the car corral, some great kid’s stuff (Nascar race track, moon bounce, sand art, air brush tattoos, and more), the Miss NorthEast Nationals swimsuit pageant, a Women’s World featuring items for the ladies, a Pinewood Derby contest, and more! One of the highlights of the show is always the air brush battles featuring some great new local artists going head to head to raise money for charity. There is something at every corner of this show for kids of all ages!!
One thing that is worth mentioning is the amount of vehicles in the show. This show always generates in the neighborhood of 300 vehicles, and 2013 is no different. However, in 2013, they have really gained a milestone of their own. This year, the show will feature 77 vehicles in 20×20 areas (yes, you read that right)!!! And that doesn’t include all the special display vehicles. If you add those in, this show has 93 vehicles in 20×20 areas, that’s incredible! With 230,000 sq. ft. of exposition space, it’s easy to see why this show is setting the benchmark with indoor shows in the north east. And the best part, it’s in the suburbs of Philadelphia so you don’t have to worry about fighting downtown traffic, the parking is FREE, there are no unions to worry about, and the area is “safe”.
