Ever since the Space City Cruisers moved their semi-annual car shows to Walter Hall Park in League City a couple of years ago, everything has been on the upswing; more cars, more spectators and lots more parking for both. Nice winding roads, covered pavilion, permanent bathrooms, picnic tables, park benches and a kid’s playground are just a few of the convenient amenities that the spacious park has to offer.
Last year I brought my teenage son and he wanted us to plan a family picnic at the park. Of course the real stars are the cars and the stars were out in force. As always I thoroughly enjoyed the show but it wasn’t without a hiccup. I had to fight the heavy weekend traffic heading toward Galveston Island on a warm, sunny day but it wasn’t just any weekend, it was Easter weekend! I remember when I was growing up and the beach seemed to be the favorite Easter destination. I guess it hasn’t changed much since then. But that wasn’t the hiccup. As soon as I got to the show and grabbed my camera I knew I was missing something. I had forgotten my memory card at home. I had spare batteries but no card. I had left it in my computer after deleting images from a previous show the night before. Luckily the park is right down the street from League City’s main drag so a quick trip to the local drugstore and I was back in business. Hope you enjoy the pictures and thanks for looking.
