The Vintage Chevrolet Club of America (VCCA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and restoration of Chevrolets of all makes through the 1992 model year (at least 25 years old). The Jersey Lakeland Region VCCA was chartered by the national organization in 1976 and has since been serving Chevy enthusiasts throughout the counties of northern New Jersey.

Our major fund raiser is our annual car show called Motorama, held in North Haledon on the Sunday of the Memorial Day weekend. Over 250 show cars and over 1000 spectators attend our shows and over 50 vendor spaces are sold each year. Proceeds from our shows benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Jersey, The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) and Hope for the Warriors. To date, our club has donated $38,700 to Make-A-Wish, $1600 to the WWP & $500 to Hope for the Warriors.

Sponsored by Jersey Lakeland Region VCCA, this show is the 43rd Annual Motorama. However, this is the third year that this show has been at this new location. I missed the first two and was determined to see this one. Well, what a shock it was to turn into the show area. The parking lot was full; crowds of people were in view along with a grass field of many colored vehicles. From the entry table, I could see a swap meet area, the show coordination booth and a large service building. And yet, the field was not crowded. There was room for more cars although about 200 vehicles were already in place. The exhibitors entry was well defined – signs helped to get the contestants in, registered and shown to their place.
Camaros were the featured marque of the day and there were plenty, of all years, in attendance.

There was an interesting mix of antique cars, early cars and quite a few high dollar vehicles. There was something for everyone at this show from a Bentley sedan to a number of fine trucks. You will find Packards, a Franklin, a Hudson Terraplane, a Pierce-Arrow plus an unusual ‘57 Volga.

This was listed as a rain or shine show. I’d say things were tense at the end of the week since substantial rain had been forecast but it didn’t materialize and the weather was ideal.

Twenty-five trophies were to be awarded, dash plaques and goody bags for first 250, food was available as were participant photos at entry.
