METUCHEN NEW JERSEY DOWNTOWN CRUISE NIGHT

With the rain not forecast to hit until well after the Cruise Night ended, the decision was made to forge ahead, and in the end, the weather forecast was spot on, and the Cruise Night participants had a nice evening to show off their vehicles at the Metuchen Downtown Cruise Night. As part of the event, there was a special tribute to Ed Van Eckert, a major contributor of both help behind the scenes, and at the event itself. Members of Ed’s Woodbridge American Legion Hall both spoke about Ed Van Eckert as their friend and put on a program honoring him as Veteran. The Cruise Night Chairperson (Bob Matland) also spoke of Ed’s contributions to the effort of making the Cruise Night happen, as well as his giving nature that led him to be a big part of the Downtown Cruise Night. The Mayor of Metuchen (Jonathan Busch), Shawn Ryan of WOLD “Oldies Radio”, and Ed Van Eckert’s Widow, Maria Victoria Portales, additionally spoke of Ed and his contributions not only to the Downtown Cruise Night, but to the community as a whole.
