AMERICAN LEGION HALL

Though delayed a week due to rain and greeted on the “Rain Date” by overcast skies, the Sons of American Legion Post 65 Car Show went off on schedule, and nary a drop of rain fell, despite the completely overcast skies. The vehicles began coming in well before the official starting time, and by not long after that time had passed, the total vehicle count was around 90 vehicles in all. Mike Inhat, the main, and very hard-working driving force behind the event was certainly kept busy, thanks to the good showing of vehicles, which included a 1976 Pontiac Trans Am (owned by Ben Deutschman), and later on, a 1979 Mercury Capri owned by Martin Deutschman. A number of Day-Of-Show volunteers from Post 65v handled the food preparations, serving Hotdogs, Hamburgers, Sausages, and drinks to the hungry/thirsty participants. Jukebox Jimmy was joined by a live band, and Metuchen’s own Fire Department volunteers provided a more than ample size Flag for the opening ceremonies. The Raffle, and 50/50 started around 1:30 p.m., and the Trophy presentations began shortly afterward. Not lot after the scheduled ending time of 2:00 p.m. the Trophy presentations came to an end, and the participants started making their way home
