The final Somernites Cruise Weekend of 2012 is coming Oct. 26-27. It has been a record-breaking year for Somernites and we intend to end the season in style! We invite you to join in the fun!

Do not miss this show! We’ve been offering raffle tickets on two great prizes all year long and now it’s time to give them a new home. At 6:00pm during the Saturday Show & Shine we will draw for the 20′ Gatormade Enclosed Car Trailer and then at 6:30pm, we will draw the winning ticket and hand over the keys to that amazing Classic B-5 Blue Challenger! Do you have your tickets yet? You can only purchase them at this show and they will be available right up until a few minutes before the drawing.

The October show also offers up a Showcase area loaded with those cruisin’ classics, 55-56-57 Chevys! On top of that, we are encouraging all Custom, Street Rod, Rat Rod, Lead Sled and Classic owners to join us for a Hot Rod Gathering! Downtown Somerset is going to have a definate 50’s and 60’s feel this month!

Don’t forget to bring your donations for the Coats For Kids Project. We still need lots of pre-school thru junior high coats. Please help if you can!

The final Cruise Weekend kicks off on Friday with the Meet & Greet at Danny’s Rod Shop from Noon-2pm. Later, the Friday Night Block Party in downtown presented by Walmart revs up at 6pm. The Saturday Show & Shine in old downtown kicks off at 1:00pm as over 1100 customs, classics, street rods and musclecars roll thru the streets!

After the Show & Shine closes at 7pm, everyone is invited to our HUGE monthly cruisin’ party on the local ‘strip’ where we gather to see and be seen! Hop in your ride and cruise the night away with us!

This is it! On Oct. 27th some lucky ticketholder is going be presented with the keys to this Classic B-5 Blue Challenger!

Who will win it? One thing is certain…if you don’t have a ticket, there is no way you can be that lucky winner!

Tickets are only $5 each with no limit on the number you can purchase. You do NOT need to be present to win…we’ll call you if your name is drawn!

Bel-Airs, Coupes, Nomads, Trucks and more! We are rolling out the red carpet for 55-56-57 Chevy owners in our popular show-within-a-show specialty area this month! So, shine up that chrome, armor-all the tires and bring those beauties out! What says ‘cruisin’ better than a sharp Tri-Five Chevy rolling down the boulevard? If you are a member of a Tri-Five Chevy club, we encourage you to use this event as a mini-meet or group outing. We will gladly park you together if you cruise in as a group. Lets see all those Tri-Five cruisers!

Hot Rod, Street Rod & Custom Gathering at this show!

To compliment this month’s Tri-Five Chevy Showcase, all owners of Customs, Street Rods, Rat Rods, Lead Sleds and Classics are encouraged to attend the Show & Shine as part of a gathering of hot rods! Chrome, tailfins, fat fenders and chopped tops will be the order of the day. Flamethrower, t- bucket and surf wagon owners should definately join the fun as well!

Extra credit goes to participants who come dressed in appropriate attire. We’re setting the dial on the Way Back Machine to 1962 and we invite you to come along for the ride!

Coats For Kids Project needs your help!

Classic car owners have some of the biggest hearts anywhere and we are calling on you to help us out with a project called Coats For Kids!

Please check your closets, attics, storage areas and bring new or gently used coats to the Show & Shine this month. We specifically need coats in pre-school to youth sizes along with gloves & mittens. Hoodies for high school ages are welcome too.

Drop donations off at the DJ Trailer located on the east side of Town Square, just look for the big red box! After this month’s show we will turn the coats over to local school resource personnel who will distribute them to children with the most serious need.

Please help a child stay warm this winter!

Last Fun Run of the year is to Cumberland Falls Park!

The Saturday Morning Fun Run will rally at Hardee’s South (stoplight #22 on south US 27) at 8:00am for a FREE breakfast for Fun Run participants. We will then depart at 9:00am(edt) for the final Fun Run of the year…Cumberland Falls State Park!
Known as the ‘Niagara of the South’ Cumberland Falls forms a 125′ wide curtain of water that plunges 60′ into the gorge below, making it the 2nd largest waterfall in North America. This breathtaking scenic wonder is nestled in the rolling hills of south central KY and is definately one of our most popular Fun Runs of the year!
Locally, leaves are starting to hit their Fall color peak so, be sure to bring your camera!
Lets end the 2012 season by “cruisin’ the strip”!

It’s going to be six long months before the next show so, why not end the season right.
After the October Show & Shine, we encourage you to “cruise the strip” in your ride for everyone to see and admire!
Huge crowds line US 27 (the strip) to watch all the action on cruise night. You may catch the occasional whiff of tire smoke! It’s like a scene straight out of American Graffiti sure to make you feel like a teenager again! Here’s alittle of what you’ll see…
